Despite really getting into this band when I first stumbled across them, I can’t help but feel they’ve started to carve themselves a little niche that seems a little too comfortable. Their latest offering, Everything Remains As It Never Was doesn’t do anything new as far as this band is concerned, instead relying on rehashing previous material to a point of somewhat redundancy. This isn’t to say that this is a bad record though; there is still a hell of a lot that would keep an Eluveitie fan listening or appeal to a new-comer. Still, given the immense amount of promise this band seemed to have behind them, it’s a little sad to see them starting to go stale so fast. I'd give 'er a 3.3/5.

a truly middling album from a band unsure where to go after 2 successful metal albums and an awkward foray into pure folk mania. the good and the bad seem to compete to balance each other, with would-be standout tracks like title, thoufold, kingdom, raven, and dom not fully fleshed out, while the likes of nil and ashes teeter noncommittally this way and that, with some random instrum pieces seeming to be evoc i outtakes. finally at the end we get the most complete and compact tracks in sempiternal embers and the pleasantly awkward lugdunon. a rly weird album but id say the goodness wins out in the end
