The perfect mix of ambient music, technique, technicality, vocals and brutality I have had the honor to sit through all year. One to listen to over and over, touching base with all emotions.
Certainly a step up from Shapeshifter, but I think The Contortionist would be infinitely better if they removed the elements of deathcore and replaced it with technical death metal. The breakdowns are pretty much the only downside to their music but they use them so damn often that it's impossible to overlook. The concept of their music is original and fantastic in my opinion; mixing brutality and beauty. They just need to ditch those awful breakdowns.
