Brilliant songwriting production, vocal performance, and the layout of the track listing flows extremely well. You can see how much care has been put into this album and it shows that Machine Head still has it all these years later.

Lame, and not in a fun way. Some of these lyrics are downright embarrassing.

Been a fan of this band for too long and since "Bloodstone & Diamonds" they have been really
really getting worse. It's a shame, this is better than "Catharsis", but lyrics are still
really cringe, and it sounds like a forced attempt to do something heavy, long gone are the
days of songs like "I Am Hell" and "A Farewell to arms". This attempt doesn't sound honest at
all.

My hands are empty kill me gently, yeah exactly same thoughts while listen to Flynn again. Can't
stand his voice after Catharsis crap. Musically is good and well produced, I like Slaughter the
Martyr and Unhallowed. It's clearly hit and miss, there was an idea to create concept album, but
it fails mostly.

Not really any "bad" songs on this album, however no real stand outs for me either. A solid album without anything really ground-breaking (or should that be head banging?). I know a few aren't happy with the political views of Robb on this album, however I feel that it actually adds to this album where the music is largely what you'd expect from Machine Head (without exerting too much effort). After a few more listens I might up my rating, but unless a track really stands out for me on repeat, I don't see it being anything better than "good".

While the lyrics are cringeworthy, there are just enough cool riffs and vocal hooks that I?ve enjoyed so much in modern Machine Head to make it a worthwhile listen.

A definite return to form with better songwriting and more creativity. The vocals are a bit hit or miss at times but overall they are pretty solid, the lyrics and concept are a bit more focused and enjoyable than the content of the previous record. Solid!
