Album is a bemused mess of psychadelic strain. Aside from a few oustanding songs ("Revenge" and the title track come to mind), Dark Night... never really captures what I thought it would and what the first and last tracks capture so wonderfully: darkness.
Dark, yet overwhelmingly euphoric at times. This is indeed a conglomeration of everything good about music today, and a landmark effort in production from both Linkous and Burton. The sounds utilized mould each track into something surreal, and the various vocals add to the collage of atmosphere. Warrants multiple listens, and rewards each run through with something new.
