Melodic Black Metal titan. The compositions are beautiful. But ---------- The production quality could have more "bass" to it (not just the intrument - the album sounds very "trebly" and a bit too "sharp" in an unrefined way for my liking) --- this would have made it a 5 from me. Also, this album simply isn't "crazy" or "genius" enough for me to give it a 5.

dimmy build on the ideas of tid to make a mighty storm blast of riffs, keys, n synths. the prod is still light, but this time it goes with the music and adds atmosphere rather than being a matter of technicality

Possibly my favourite Dimmu Borgir album. I actually prefer this over the 2005 re-recording, as I think the production on this is fine and suits the music perfectly. This is one of the most consistent Symphonic Black Metal albums. The first 4 tracks + the title track are my top picks from the record. Definitely give it a listen if you haven't already if you're a fan of Symphonic Black Metal, or just Metal in general m/

Ive been a fan of Dimmu Borgir since i was little, and this album always stuck out to me as their most diverse and interesting. I love it so much.

Within the Black Metal genre, i see few people talking about the early works of Dimmu Borgir. It always seemed that other bands received more attention, or that the band was so discreet that they didn't deserved a discussion about them. And i really do not understand these things, especially when i come across with works like "Stormblast". This is a great example of harsh Black Metal with atmosphere, medieval sounds and other aspects that shape themselves a single huge record.
