2.5 average | Gary STAFF | November 11th 21 | Sadly, "The Higher Power" is an average release even if I feel less grumpy and more generous than otherwise. Where the album tried to turn towards the BMSS, Assassination or Edelweiss alike psychedelic-black-punk direction, the result was far more convincing than the rest and managed to offer some fairly enjoyable moments. However, the whole creation smells like cheap glue: it feels like a cheap copy version of the aforementioned bands and bit like Burzum at certain moments (the vocals really sound similar to young Varg here and there, I had to admit that). Moreover the recording quality is way-way too sloppier than it should be - I get it, recording on a half-rotten potato is "kvlt af", but after a while it gets really ridiculous and dampens the experience. (Even Judas Iscariot could record a better quality audio in the '90s...)
