This album is really something, I always wonder if things like this will be 'worth the wait' with
so many years to build expectations to unfair levels. But this album is just as captivating and
mind-bending to me as it was hearing their first release so many years ago. Game
changer! And how about those nature samples?

Chugga chugga chooochoooooo. This gets boring after the first few tracks. The tempo is ferocious at first, but by the end I couldn't wait to get off this train.

Surprisingly consistent. Maybe not as "important" as the debut, but at 80 minutes this album is way less bloated. Splitting it into 2 "sides" after heartsmear makes it much more digestible

Doesn't quite reach the same highs as it's predecessor. Could have
been trimmed down since they don't really sprinkle in enough new ideas to warrant such a long
runtime.
Edit: This gets more boring with each listen. Adding frog samples is not the only type of
progression I expect after 10 years. There isn't a single song on here that can hold up against
the best ones from the previous album.

After waiting nearly 10 years for a sequel to Masstaden (which i liked very much) pretty
much everybody accepted that this album will not be as good as the first one. The golden era
of chug-chug has passed, first single for this was not very promising, and after all albums
that require a 10 year waiting period rarely come out in a state that justifies the wait.
Turns out none of that is true. This is a 1 hour an 20 minutes album that doesnt feel
bloated, with impressive writing all throughout and a truckload of callbacks to the original
record. If you can make it through masstaden nationalsang without saying "holy shit" to
yourself after being a fan of the first record you might not be human.
Exceeded expectations at every turn.

I didn't anticipate that great of a leap in improvement from Masstaden, but this... This is truly the spiritual successor Vildhjarta's fever dream. It doesn't hinge to much on the themes of it's former material but pays homage to it whilst offering new and innovative sounds. Look...I have been waiting for another Vildhjarta for YEARS, and it's finally here. AND....it's too fucking long. I have always had an issue with double albums, as they take what you like about an artist and then ask you to wait twice as long for the usual 5 - 6 good songs. But now, you have to trudge through nearly 2 hours for only about 20-30 minutes of actually distinct songs that I can actually name. On a positive note, the songwriting through it strong. These guys know how to make the most off kilter music without it feeling disjointed and like a wall of noise. There are enjoyable moments, I just can't make the commitment this album asks for on a regular basis.

While it won't to much to gain interest of non-fans outside the genre, this album provides a chunky amount of harmonious riffs interlaced with clean atmospheric sounds and really good vocals. The production is sublime and overall just a really fun listen. It doesn't re-invent the wheel, it doesn't build off the decade old album but it doesn't have to necessarily. I'd be surprised to hear from anyone with even a slight interest in metal to not come away with a least some appreciation of the symphonies on here.
