AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH

5.0 classic | SpideryMan | October 8th 21 | Trivium embraces a high fantasy prog aesthetic. Not too dissimilar from the themes explored on
Shogun, and stumble upon the best songwriting they've ever had. There's a seriously masterful
blend of clean and harsh sections in every song, influences from all over the heavy metal
spectrum spring up and never feel out of place due to great transitions and the odd symphonic
arrangements that compliment riffs that are meant to soar, or polished (but not over produced)
production to make a metalcore smackdown sound more raw.
Matt Heafy has developed a theatrical, but still very relatable, and emotional appraoch to
vocals. You'll never feel a disconnect between yourself and the song due to him overdoing the
"cheese factor" And if you ever felt like he was too nassally/whiny at some point on the older
records he basically sounds like a beefy knight defeating a warlock with the power of his earth
shattering baritenor these days. His vocals truly shine on tracks such as "A Crisis Of
Revelation", "Like A SWOOOORD Over Damocles" The title track, as well as "The Shadow Of The
Abattoir"
Alex bent continues to be a monster behind the kit, constantly hammering out perfect
beats for Cory and Matt, (and Paolo due to his presence being much easier to catch here), he's a
constant source of energy for the band and has to be mentioned.
While the album is significiantly closer to their classic material, echoing but not copying a
great deal Shogun, and Ascendency. The band show a level of maturity when it comes to
songwriting which couldn't have been achieved without the grooving "experimental" side of their
discography testing water.
All of these factors combine to form the most overwhelmingly
cohesive, all-encompassing, definitive vision of Trivium as a unit. It's fucking great and if
we're still judging them by the standards of modern metalcore, they're easily leagues above
their contemporaries here.

4.0 excellent | goonmob | October 8th 21 | After the last album I wasn't expecting much, but damn this album kicks ass and probably the best Trivium album to date.

4.5 superb | Dmax28 | October 8th 21 | Seriously makes a strong case for their best album. They don't take their foot off the gas the whole time. And the vocal melodies, guitar solos, energy...its all at a higher level than these guys are usually able to consistently display. This is actually a fairly brutal album.

4.5 superb | branm25 | October 8th 21 | Trivium have had the best redemption arc. Ever since TSATS they've really solidified themselves as one of the most consistent and competent modern metal bands.

4.0 excellent | ZoddHand | October 9th 21 | If someone told me Trivium would be at the top of rtheir game 20 years into their career I'd say you rwere lying. In the Court of the Dragon shows Trivium rfinally reaching their true potential. Alex Bent was rthe cherry on top of this band that really helped rthem resurge their career into the premier metal rband they have always wanted to be. Cory and Matt rhit it out of the park as a guitar duo delivering rthe bands best riffs and solos to date. Matt vocally rhas never sounded more comfortable in the band than rhe has now and his phrasing has really improved. rIt's hard to believe this is the same band that rreleased Vengence Falls and Silence in the Snow.

4.5 superb | Mitch | October 4th 21 | First Trivium album I've enjoyed since Shogun. Matt thankfully keeps his earth-shatteringly rgeneric clean vocals to a minimum, which really helps. I thought I was done with them after rWTDMS, but this pleasantly surprised me. The 2nd half is superb.

4.5 superb | Malcontent | December 8th 21 | I wouldn't even consider myself a fan of Trivium, but this absolutely slays. It plays like the best parts of thrash, melodeath, and
power metal: roaring riffs, memorable melodies, soaring guitars and high fantasy concepts - without the bloat, overblown mixing,
bad songwriting, cheese, or generic instrumentation that can easily come with the territory. Coupled with great lyrics, breathtaking
drumming, and a driving, palpable energy running through the entire record, this is an instant classic.

4.5 superb | PTRKoulou | January 10th 24 | I've never quite felt that Trivium's potential was realized as much as with this one. Years after first listening to this, while I still don't care about No Way Back or From Dawn To Decadence, where Trivium enter their pilot mode, I can still note some moments that are worth my attention, like the cool tremolo picking in the former's prechorus. On the other hand, In the Court Of the Dragon's highlights are perhaps the greatest in their discography, boasting the humongous metal epos Shadow of the Abattoir or the astonishingly tight Crisis of Revelation. The performances, especially in the vocal department are on their absolute peak. Those are no small feats for a band well into their 10th release. Some filler aside, this is, without argument, the most complete Trivium album this far.
