This just leaked the other day. I've listened to it a few times and it's just plain awesome (coming from someone who's never been a huge fan). The band's guitars have improved in many ways for the better, especially the solos. I definitely will be buying this as soon as it comes out.

Ugh, I pity the people who think this is classic. Listen to some proper Death Metal and not these showed-promise-but-became-pretenders.
That said, this is not an awful album by any stretch but too boring to be considered anything more than average.

I really don't care what all these people on here who trash talk bands that work hard to make something that alot of people really like. I think it's good and I am a fan of TBDM no matter what. Just because your behind a computer screen doesn't mean anyone really cares because this band is going places no matter what you say.

This is pretty much Nocturnal with Ryan Knight, but that's really all I wanted from a new TBDM record anyway. Anyone who was expecting anything else is just plain silly.
Nowhere near a classic, but great, solid stuff, as long as you aren't one of those no-fun, mopey types of people.

Wow. Unfreakin' believable. Been waiting all year and this is easily the best thing I have heard for a long time from any band. Cleanest vocals and best solos ever.

The addition of Ryan Knight helps to bring some variety in the solo department but doesn't prevent the band from sticking the their same song writing formula on Deflorate, which is starting to wear thin. some catchy melodies and interesting lyrics but overall an album which tries to build on Nocturnal's success and falls short.

Definately sticking to their tried and tired song structures. Nothing new, nothing innovative, solos are a step above from previous releases. This is definately an album for the fans but it wont earn them new ones. However; this being their fourth album in, I'm not really suprised by this.

Boring, repetitive death metal from a band with a lot of promise. Every song sounds the same on this album, and while none are outright bad, they blend together in a sea of blast beats, shrieking vocals, and distorted guitar runs.

The Black Dahlia Murder is nothing if not consistent. They churn out respectable melodic death metal and have made some excellent songs in the past. They added ex-Arsis guitarist Ryan Knight for this release, so how does it stack up? Well, Knight does help out in the solo department, and Shannon Lucas is still a beast on the kit, but this release stagnates a bit too much to truly be a great one. Many of the songs overstay their welcome, and tend to bleed together in this regard. It doesn't really present an idea that The Black Dahlia Murder haven't tried before, rather being a rehashing of their previous work. That being said, the album does end on a strong note with "I Will Return", which is easily the best on the record. If you're a fan of The Black Dahlia Murder, you should enjoy this. If you want to get into The Black Dahlia Murder, I suggest starting elsewhere in their discography.

TBDM was riding on a wave of momentum after a solid effort in Nocturnal, but this album was generic and very boring.

The fourth installment from The Black Dahlia Murder was nothing short of spectacular, even though they are less one John Kempainen. But the replacement Ryan Knight did not disappoint, the solos he brought to the table gave the band a more legato feel to the riff to solo transition and brought solos in from left field rather than a noticeable placement when John was in charge. one thing that goes unsung from this Album is Shannon Lucas' drumming, from the intro of "Christ Deformed" to the epic intro of "That Which Erodes the Most Tender of Things" his drumming was precise and superb and had a more comfortable feel than Nocturnal. the riffs havent changed much but that really insn't a problem because when you change to much of a band that a mass amount of people enjoy then they are most likely going to go down the tubes because they "sold out" Brian Eschbach's riffs dont get old but they sure can get stuck in your head which isnt necessarily a problem. The end track "I Will Return" goes along with the bands motif of having an ending song that just destroys the listeners to ash and ruble. Last but not least Trevors lyrics are unparalleled ever since the first record Trevor has delivered and delivered well as well as his vocals chopping from highs to lows at any given moment. His highs have gotten better since his first album but in turn his lows are getting lesser and lesser but not in a bad way he still makes it work. In conclusion this album is worth purchase or a solid listen through that will make you want to buy it.
