Ok... so maybe i was a little rash in stickin this at a 5... i had been music deprived(horrible situation) for a month or so, and this was the first thing i checked out after ha.rbut still good album, not as fun as FYS though...!

Admittedly, I'm not the pop-punk apologist that most teenagers are nowadays, and admittely, I'm not the most optimistic person out there. So, given this reasoning, I should most likely despise Set Your Goals' sophomore effort, This Will Be The Death of Us . However, in all honesty, I do not. Scores of hooks become more evident as this album ensues. Even though there are some songs that go without proper refrains, the album churns out perceptible grooves like Jackson-Braun churns out feline-based detective novellas. But there are several faults here. For one, the vocals are very monotonous and bland. Vinne Caruana's guest performance is like watching A-List British actors take form on the ensemble while one of the contestants from My Antonio sports the lead. It only makes the latter look more mediocre in comparison. And let me tell you, Caruana's definitely not of reality fame here. Nor is Set Your Goals of avant-garde fame. By adding innumerable "been there, done that" phrases (lyrical, vocal, and musical), Set Your Goals creates an album that's extremely generic, albeit catchy. But the latter of these two components of Set Your Goals' sound is not enough to save it from being dreadfully average.

Taking everything from Mutiny! and building up on it. The progression from their first full length to This Will Be the Death of Us is very impressive, whether it be 'Summer Jam' which is a bigger better version of their title song 'Mutiny' or the collaboaration with Hayley Williams in 'The Few That Remain'. This album reeks of natural progression and are definately on the right track. Where New Found Glory seem to have faltered on their high throne of hardcore influenced pop-punk, it is bands like Set Your Goals that are here to pick up where NFG have left off and continue to improve on it.
