4.0 excellent | LivingWill | February 19th 21 | I mean, have you heard the singles ? Hail the Sun is now for sure a better DGD than DGD.

3.0 good | quetzal | April 19th 21 | Haven't listened to this band before, really, absurdly, stupendously generic. Sounds dead on like
so many other bands I've heard. Good musicianship but I'm not sold on the songwriting yet. The
singer sounds like he was cloned from Anthony Green and not in a good way. Not even half as good
as Fortress on any conceivable level.

5.0 classic | Chris McWhiney | April 16th 21 | Flippin magnificent. this album stays true to the classic hail the sun sound but mixes in different styles in every song. the transitions are magnificent and the guitar mix is pristine. all in all this album may just be my AOTY.

3.0 good | JohIV | April 21st 21 | Hasn't really been good since Wake. This dude needs to stop the self flagellation and get back to lyrics about cops being bad

4.5 superb | ajcollins15 | April 21st 21 | For many years people have always said ?Hail the Sun is a weaker version of The Mars Volta? ?however, those people are also those who say ?The Mars Volta is too much to listen to?. For me, and many of us who thoroughly enjoy swancore as a genre, believe Hail the Sun has just hit the top of the board for swancore bands (which means they have surpassed the creators of the sound, Dance Gavin Dance). New Age Filth almost hits the classic listens of their 2014 record ?Wake? while also going toe-to-toe with the classics of The Mars Volta. The reason for this is just how tight the playing is, how intricate yet simple the instrumentals are, and how they continue to not be afraid to experiment. Hail the Sun are the watered-down version of the Mars Volta that is still holding strong to the sound of that band and not sacrificing the intricate nature but makes it more palatable on multiple listens. My only drawback with this record is each song feels a bit short when it?s all said and done. They don?t mess around, and they also don?t leave a lot of room for breathing, so I wish there was some more intricate depth to the tracks, but still a hell of a fifth album for the new legends.

4.5 superb | fsamhero | April 17th 21 | The only flaw with this album imo is that because each song is so densely packed, every
song feels like, 7 minutes long lol and it starts to drag on a little
But really, other than that, this album absolutely SLAYS and I'm in love with so much of
this
IF YOU LOVE ME THEN LOVE ME TO DEEEEEAAAATH

3.5 great | LukeN4HisDestNE | September 30th 21 | Much better than their previous two efforts, but not quite as good as Wake. Still, one of the more refreshing releases of 2021, with a bazillion colored vinyl variants to choose from!

3.4 great | Erwann S. STAFF | May 2nd 21 | Pure swancore? That means: very cool mathy post-hardcore and that kind of sub-Anthony Green vocals. While I love the former, I can't say I'm a big fan of the latter; the only melodrama I like is Lorde's. Truth is, I did enjoy the ride, but this kind of album acts more like a trip towards Nostalgia Avenue rather than the discovery of a cool modern album. Guess that's only due to me not listening to swancore anymore - this aesthetic will forever be attached to my teenage years. Thanks for the revivalism.

4.0 excellent | Nomos2 | April 26th 21 | I was so wrong after presuming this to just be more of the same. I mean, it is, but it's better
than they've ever sounded. There's even a couple tracks on here with melodies and guitar that
sound like The Mars Volta. There's a real diversity to the melodies employed here, even if it just
sounds like business as usual at first glance. Only Solipsism I'm not in love with, but that's
saying something, since the rest are 9-10/10s. I'm sick to death of Swancore and even DGD bores me
these days. But this, this is refreshing. It's "that" sound, perfected, and not nearly as
obnoxious as their contemporaries. The vocal delivery is far more earnest, honest, passionate
than, say, an Eidola or a DGD.

4.0 excellent | spanndrew58 | April 18th 21 | I really didn?t want to like this, and I was sure I wouldn?t. But dammit, this band just does *that* sound so much better than the hundreds of other bands that try to do it.
