The three or four cover songs on this are awesome; the remixes are alright. Other than that... This album is Marilyn Manson trying to be Frank Zappa. That's about it. Interesting... But not that interesting! Unless you're a hardcore fan, do yourself a favor and download the covers; skip the album. Bump

i think it is too irresponsible to say that this is better than mechanical animals or holy wood i dont think it is but it does have a lot of things that make it an interesting outing just the fact that it reflects the decadent lifestyle the band was having during that times touring around and getting wasted every night makes it worth listening but you must keep in mind that its a remix/cover/b sides album Bump

Dude dude, EVERYBODY. Don't get this wrong, most Manson fans would definetely think Smells Like Children is his worst and most pointless. I think not, infact, Smells Like Children is A-L-O-T better than Mechanical Animals and The Golden Age Of Grotesque itself. This EP launched Manson into mainstream, don't forget that. And if it wasn't for the song "Sweet Dreams". We wouldn't even know Manson, and you know that. So haters please shut up, cause devoted fans like me love it. This EP is very bizzare with crazy and sonic expermiments thrown in, which makes this EP very special. Almost every single song in this EP is AWESOME. EXCEPT for the following: "The Hands Of Small Children", "Diary Of A Dope Fiend", "I Put A Spell On You", and the last track (hidden track). Those songs are NOT recommended, they suck. The rest of the EP rules, so if your a true Manson fan, get motivated and BUY IT ALREADY!!! Bump

This is Manson's most ridiculous album and one of only two non-LP releases that is not a single. Originally intended to be a single to the song 'Dope Hat', it instead featured other remixes and assorted various oddities, such as a sample of Marilyn Manson speaking on Donahue in 1995. This album is virtually crap, and only good for purposes of collection completion, save for three fantastic covers. 'Sweet Dreams', which propelled the band to fame, and accompanying it, a rocking thrash-style 'Rock n' Roll Nigger' and a redux of the classic Screamin' Jay Hawkins song 'I Put a Spell on You'. So as I said, save for those three tracks, this album is practically worthless. On the other hand, though... those three tracks make this an EP worth buying for even many casual Marilyn Manson fans. Bump

This is the album that got me hooked on Marilyn Manson, it showed me the power of the darker side of music. This is one the best remix/cover album ever released (in my opinion anyway), It featured some amazing remixes from Portrait of an American Family, plus really good covers of Sweet Dreams, I put a spell on you, & Rock & Roll Nigger to name a few. I was 13 years old when i first got the CD & the opening track The hands of small children really creaped the *** out of me, & then the eire sound of Twiggy's bass starts things off for Diary of a Dope Fiend. This is my favorite version of all the "Dope Hat" songs. I find this album to be alot better than Portrait, it has a better mood setting for the listener & its just erie. There are some tracks that are so weird they make you think what the hell is wrong with Mr. Manson. Bump
