| 2.0 poor | Gregortham Samsandam | July 3rd 09 | This album is gay. The harsh vocals are way overdone and gay. The clean vocals sound like a painfully gay attempt at being epic but just come off as being epically gay. The music is bland to the point of being gay. Overall this is the perfect album to go suck off a dude to.

| 4.0 excellent | Crysis | June 12th 09 | Anaal Nathrakh are one of those bands which, with their past albums, have crafted music which is right on the border of unlistenable. However, toss all that aside before you let "In the Constellation of the Black Widow" begin to play, because I can assure you that you will listen to the entire thing, cover to cover, in the first sitting. What Anaal Nathrakh have done here is manage to craft some of the most brutal and crushing death/black/grind (or whatever you want to call it) while still making each song uncannily easy to listen to. Underneath riff after riff of down tuned and distorted guitars lies a thick layer of melodies which always manage to come to forefront, even when the rest of the music is at its absolutely heaviest. Clean vocals ring through the inhuman shrieks and deep growls to create an atmoshpere which approaches, I dare say, epic. An album which proves that even with a hint of variation, even the most crushing barrage of noise can become a finely tuned metal leviathan, "In the Constellation of the Black Widow" is by far the most surprising metal album of 2009.

| 3.5 great | Sobhi Abdul-Rakhman STAFF | June 22nd 09 | Corpses raping animals then fighting other reanimated corpses after being burned alive by fire rain and death angels. Destruction on a colossal scale.

| 4.5 superb | Robert Hollier | August 14th 09 | This album is Brutal. Brutal with a capital B. This literally rapes me and takes my soul with it. This album would make converge and deathcore 'Br00tal' kids cry at night in their sleep. In Short: this is easily one of the most epic albums of this year.

| 4.5 superb | grahamg0re | June 26th 09 | this was actually my first real introduction to annal nathrakh. this is intense shiz. the use of their disgusting highs and lows are amazing and create amazing contrast with the clean singing. it's almost unsettling.

| 4.5 superb | ThyCrossAwaits | June 24th 09 | This is so much more brutal than Hell Is Empty... but still with enough of Mick's musicality. "Blood Eagles Carved On the Backs of Innocents" rapes my face. Can't really give it a 5 til I listen to the whole thing, but for now this reaches my expectations.

| 3.0 good | longlivemetal | June 24th 09 | This is blacker than the last couple of releases, particularly on tracks like "Blood Eagles Carved On the Backs of Innocents" and "Oil Upon the Sores of Lepers". I'm glad they only had the one guest this album with Zeitgeist Memento from Repvblika one of Feto Records newest signings. With his vocals sticking more to their black metal roots, rather than crossing over towards a death metal sound as they have in more recent years.
It's almost like them taking a couple of steps backwards and which at least to me, is the right direction.
This is a good album, but for me not their best, running on par with Eschaton. Mick Kenney seems to be lending himself to every and any band he can get his hands on, and with this being his flagship band I guess I was expecting a little more creativity.

| 4.0 excellent | Nick M | June 12th 09 | few bands reach the level of extremity that Anaal Nathrakh achieve, and most bands that do tend to be, well... generic. Marduk is a fine example. However, Anaal Nathrakh manage to make some of the most intense, extreme music ever crafted while making it, well... listenable. through layers of distorted guitar assaults you will find atmospheric melodies and cleanly sung choruses throughout. Riffs are crushingly heavy, yet also varied and melodic. This is the soundtrack to the Armageddon.
