This really is Converge's forgotten masterpiece. It may be their most varied release, and while certain songs like "The Lowest Common Denominator" and "Ten Cents" initially seem very strange for a Converge album, they're actually some of the most unique pieces they've ever made. "Conduit", as it stands for me right now, is the greatest metalcore song ever written. Literally everything you could want in a metalcore song is found there and done to absolute, stunning perfection. And it may be a hardcore album, but make no mistake: this is as metal as hardcore gets. The record, through the atmosphere and lyrics, reeks of paranoid anxiety and unstableness, and the music, while incredible, reflects that notion by sounding as if it's ready to fall apart into unbridled chaos at any moment. I know Jane Doe is seen as an angry album, but there are some frighteningly angry moments on here, too, as opener "My Unsaid Everything" and the terrifying "The Lowest Common Denominator" will so gladly show you. And yet, their most beautiful sounding song in their discography is on this record too in the form of the acoustic "Ten Cents". I remember watching an interview with Kurt Ballou in which he said that Jane Doe was the first Converge album he was truly 100% proud of. That man is a extreme perfectionist if that is the case, and I don't think he gives himself enough credit for the songwriting he did on this record. Because, in all honesty, I'd be very proud if I was the creative force behind a masterwork of hardcore such as this.

Light 4 - Yet another solid Converge release. ,,Petioning the empty Sky'' was huge improvement for the band, and well...extremely polarizing album for 1996 in metalcore. ,,Petioning the empty sky'' introduced heavy, noisey, ugly, dark, fast and vaguely chaotic side of Converge. And this album perfectly continues in that, with addition of better production, better vocal performance, and some awfully sinister songwritting. Once again this album slightly lacks in consistency, and cohesion...But It is very solid anyway.rHighlights: ,,My Unsaid everything'' ,,The lowest Common Denominator'', ,,Ten Cents'' ,,Letterbomb'' ,,Love as Arson''

I never gave this album much of a chance because I had heard the first two and I guess concluded their pre-Jane Doe material to be scruffy and not quite there yet. Somehow I made this moronic assumption without giving this a proper listen, but I'm glad I eventually did. About on par with anything else released by them but with a slight developmental lack that doesn't detract or harm the music. Excellent songs and brilliant ideas abound.

When Forever Comes Crashing is clearly an earlier Converge album, as it lacks some of the excitement brought forth by some of their later records' technicality. However, since it is a Converge album, its still does manage to be very entertaining.

I never managed to get into this as much as Converge's other stuff... until now. It's perhaps their most angry album - "My Unsaid Everything" is utter chaos (in a good way). Definitely worth the patience

this feels more balanced than Petitioning the Empty Sky: less classic songs and less dud ones too. That said, When Forever Comes Crashing basically follows in the same steps as its predecessor, delivering very technical hardcore/metalcore with attitude, energy and a tad more experimentation.
