Aiden used to be tolerable back when they had punk sensibilities.
Now there is not one aspect on this album that saves Knives from obscurity. Beyond forced melodies, absolutely pointless lyrisism and the vocals are some of the worst I've ever heard.
Terrible, just terrible.

I just listened to it, so I could justify the one I felt it deserved. Definitely deserved said one, this album made me angry, but not in a totally sick metal way. Fuck Aiden.

If Conviction was the final nail in the coffin for these 'horrifying' rebels, then its successor is most likely the knife. I could tolerate Aiden's first two albums for having just a little entertainment, if on the bland and meddlesome side of Hell. Knives is a return-to-form on the band's part, though at the expense of various things; whether it be the irksome lyrics, the overall style of the material being outdated, or the atrocious cover art, much of it is open for interpretation.

Boasting laughable lyricism, horrible vocal work and predictable song structures, Aiden have put forth an album that fails to bring forth anything new. The musical aspect of the album is somewhat solid, with catchy punk rhythms, but they are consistently drowned out by the horrible vocals and make such musical moments hard to focus on.

Following their push for mainstream recognition on 'Conviction', Aiden return to their horror-punk roots on 4th LP 'Knives'. The restoration of this harder, faster style suits the band musically, since it covers up their lack of originality & technicality. Unfortunately, it is background noise to repulsive frontman Wil Francis, whose childish, attention-seeking lyrics cross the line into being offensive. The curse-ridden, hateful, violent & anti-religious diatribe is thoroughly tasteless & makes 'Knives' sound repetitive, even at a laughable 26 minutes in length. Recommended Tracks: Let the Right One In & Scavengers of the Damned.
