If Post-Nothing doesn't melt your heart with its jubilant youthful charm, then I really don't know what to say. This two-piece garage/punk band out of Vancouver are bringing the energy of such acclaimed acts like At The Drive-In and Cap'n Jazz, but never over thinking their next hook; rather letting the album flow with a gracious, warm smile. Roll the windows down and raise the volume because Japandroids is here to stay this summer.

Maybe it was the initial hype I read that made this album such a let-down, but it really rdidn't blow me away as I was expecting it to. A few songs were great but didn't seem to rmatch well with what came afterwards. Very lo-fi if you're into that. I really did like r"Young Hearts Spark Fire" and "Wet Hair".rEdit: scratch that. "I Quit Girls" is epic.

This is the album for those summer days, driving with your windows down, blasting music from your car even
if you have a shitty sound system. It is for when you're getting down on yourself or think you are going
through some sort of quarter-life crisis. It is nostalgic. It is also an album I can listen to from start to finish
every single time.

Much like the Black Keys, there's something immediately likable in this two-man music. The carefree, upbeat attitude that plays throughout the entire thing makes you want to throw caution into the wind, forget whatever holds you back from doing what you want, and road trip across the country with nothing to worry about except "those sunshine girls." (I've almost done just that a couple of times after hearing this album, no lie).
It's the type of album that makes you forget what a stuffy, elitist music critic you've become, and instead makes you want to listen to music simply to feel good again.

Half of this album is phenomenal. Young Hearts Spark Fire, Wet Hair, and Sovereignty capture the youthful energy of 90s emo and combine it with a thick guitar sound and frantic drumming. Unfortunately, most of the other songs do not hold this standard. They're still pretty good, but don't have that extra something.

There's a lot of talk about this youthful exuberance on Post-Nothing, this live-in-the-moment vibe, but the mere fact is these guys write really good songs. Put in your headphones and feel crazy forever.

Post-Nothing is an album that draws you in from the first listen, yet doesn't seem to wear or get old. Japandroids are a simple two piece garage rock band, who would have thought that this formula could create an album with so many catchy elements and fantastic hooks?
