This is with no doubt one of the greatest, influential and important albums to metal. it inspired countless death, thrash and black metal bands. Everything here is great from the guitars to The King's (King Diamond that is) unmistakable vocals and lyrics and atmosphere that just oozes evil from the speakers. A must have for a fan of every kind of metal.

One of if not THE greatest Heavy Metal albums of all time. The riffs here are some of the best ever laid to tape. Atmosphere is dark and brooding. A must have album for any serious Heavy Metal fan.

This album is legendary. There's a reason for that. Melissa is a masterpiece of a classic heavy metal album featuring many great riffs and melodies. I'm normally not a huge fan of songs over 10 minutes, but Satan's Fall is epic and extraordinary.

Few albums in heavy metal history have been quite as ambitious, intricate and grandiose as Mercyful Fate's Melissa. Consisting of an exact 7 tracks, it feels as if purely intended for top-to-bottom listening, rather than separate jamming of each track. The songwriting genius, precision and formidable chemistry of this band cannot be emphasized enough. Definitely a clear example of heavy metal at its finest.

I hate King Diamond's high pitched wailing. It's awful, no one should have encouraged him to do it, but unfortunately a lot of his fame comes from this obnoxious screeching. His middle range is fine. The songs are good. But I can't stand his pharyngeal squawking.

While "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath may be the best and most influential metal album of all time "Melissa" is just as influential in the sense that it helped formed the black metal genre. While I am no fan of black metal this is perhaps my favorite metal record of all time. King Diamond is amazing on vocals and the rest of the band are no slouches either. Seriously this album is perfection. It may not last very long, but it makes up for it with pure aggression. The album hits you and it hits hard. Every song on here is perfectly crafted. From "Curse of the Pharaohs" to the eleven minute epic "Satan's Fall" this album is the epitome of what all metal should set out to be loud, fast, and straight up bad-ass vocals.
