Their first purely melodic death metal album, this album features the bands most compelling melodies. Nearly every song is great and has a great riff or melody. This is what this band was made for, and this is both their first truly great album and their best.

From start to finish, Amon Amarth hits you with full force. Brutality, Melody, and excellent song structure make this an excellent listen even by today's standards. Strongest songs would be Across the Rainbow Bridge and Where Silent Gods stand guard. My favourite album by them and is truly one of the best melodic death albums ever.

A very good album by Amon Amarth introducing hits such as Death in Fire or the monumental ...And Soon the World Will Cease To Be. Just an Amon Amarth album, not the best, but neither of theirs is the best since all are great.

As this album's review states, this band seems incapable of making bad material. Versus the World is another example of the band's progression and consistency. Amon Amarth just seems to get better, even if some of the riffs have a bit of a recycled feel to them at times. This bit of redundancy happens in music and especially in metal and is probably the only flaw on this disc.
