Definitely a step up from their last two records. We Are Not Your Kind is sure to please most maggots and metalheads, as the album features both heavier songs, with some more melodic sections too. Slipknots sixth release sees the band as a more refined and modern, yet still angry group of individuals. Even with all the goods things about this album, it definitely does not outshine the likes of their classic self-titled and Iowa albums. (True Rating: 3.6)

A vivid and experimental masterpiece that sees the band venture into uncharted territory. Every single track is eclectically bizarre and has its own identity. Aggression is refined and methodically placed amongst beautiful melodic vocal sections and atmospheric electrical ambience. Instrumentally impeccable beyond belief. Taylor?s vocal work has never been this complete and passionate. It may take a few listens for some but eventually this will go down as their magnum opus even over the masterpiece that is Iowa.

at some of the ratings slipknot get they
aren't liked by the new "hipsters" and
"screamo" fangirls, slipknot is better than
whatever band you like. Iowa being only 3.5 is

Despite all the filler material they are apparently known for (I haven't listened to whole albums, just songs here and there), this one grows on me the more I listen to it. It's gratifying knowing they still got it in them.

For such a popular band that is often criticized for its status, I find it amazing that Slipknot is releasing such a brilliant and superbly produced album. Despite the rather long length of the project, with a few exceptions, they succeeded in doing a great job, offering an album that is easy to access but which gains in replay value after a few listenings. Here they knew how to manage the melodies and how to strike when it was time, to place some successful interludes that bring depth to the album. It will probably not be the best "Metal" album of the year but for me it comes close to it

There were 14 songs but only 7 songs that were good they really wasted the album with those interludes which were so unnecessary and boring overall the album was a disappointment even though I've never been a big fan of the band

By far the most solid album they?ve put out since Vol. 3, and if not for my overwhelming nostalgia for that record I?d say this is superior. Not a single sloppy track, plenty of ?back to basics? Knot with Corey doing some pseudo-raps actually along the lines of his self-titled flows. Whichever DJ stepped up to the plate killed this record, I?ve been saying they learned how to use Sid again but it could be Clown or Tortilla Face...? Even the ?ballads? have developed an eerie razor?s edge that finally sets them apart from Stone Sour in a distinct and appealing manner. rI?m a born Iowan so am I biased as hell? Yes. rDon?t give a fuck. Don?t ever judge me.

Legitimately surprising even for someone who doesn't consider themselves much of a
Slipknot fan. Slipknot stay interesting on this album with some pretty heavy moments
that may rival albums such as Iowa. Corey Taylor still sounds as good as ever. We get
some great chugging moments on here. Slipknots tries some more moody songs with Not Long
for This World, and Spiders. There are some missteps on here, like the aforementioned
Spiders and My Pain. Slipknot makes up for this with some extremely hard hitting tracks
though like Solway Firth and Orphan. Overall, Slipknot fans will be happy that the band
still holds up after lineup changes, and those looking for a fun, energetic metal album
should also give this a shot.

Slipknot come back hard with an excellent return-to-form following the Gray Chapter. With a mix of heavy parts and experimentation, the album stays interesting the entire time despite the unneeded interludes.
