I feel that a good album is here somewhere, but the ove proudced plasticity of the production and the underlying feeling she's laughing at her listeners turns me away from it

This is completely horrible. The lyrics to nearly all her songs are disgusting and im sick of growing up in a country where talentless people become more and more famous every year because theyre "Pretty". Lady Gaga isint even pretty, shes just nothing unless she picks a career that suits her talents, and music obviously isint one of them

Stefani Germanotta is an artist. "Pop culture is art" the starlet says, and she invests a lot in the fashion and culture associated with being a pop diva. Yet her artistry extends beyond fashion and glitz: stagename Lady Gaga writes her songs and the shit is good. On The Fame, an album written over a two-year period, Gaga draws from several influences to make a number of knockout singles comprising a shockingly solid album. So she's artsy, a talented and educated musician, a gifted singer-songwriter and a hermaphrodite(!) on top of it. A striking combination if there ever was one, it's resulted in a killer debut. She certainly ain't no paper gangsta.

Some of the songs are ok but the whole thing feels too plastic and 'designed' which detracts any pleasure from it. I don't believe for one second that she writes her own songs, smells like a marketing gimmick to me as is the dressing like a cross dressing hooker. Good music doesnt required such gimmicks.

Obvious similarities do exist to Gwen Stefani. Yet with more skillful vocals and a focused synth-heavy sound, Lady GaGa does plenty to carve out her own style. The album seems unconcerned with external opinion, simply aiming for the goal of creating something that sounds good. It’s a charming attitude that extends throughout the album, especially in her lyrics. Combined with nimble control of her vocals and skilled production; it makes for an exceptionally appealing combination. While The Fame only really captures one component of the pop theatrics of Lady GaGa, the strong execution in production and vocals helps GaGa deliver an energetic punch. The Fame isn’t a defining moment in pop culture, but it is a promising sign for Lady GaGa, with plenty to dance to.

Hahaha seriously? This is god awful. Everyone keeps saying how original and refreshing Lady Gaga is.... how!? How can you honestly say that? Her music is bland at best. That 'original sound' that she's so good at has been done numerous times already, years ago at that. If anything, yes, she dresses herself very oddly. No more, no less. She is nothing new in terms of her sound, talent, or overall music. The absolute worst thing about this record, however, is that her single "Poker Face" is a blatant and sickening rip-off of Yelle's "Amour du Sol" from her 2007 album 'Pop-Up.' Disgusting.

Synthetic, generic, homogenous, and completely unimpressive, but also catchy enough to be mildly entertaining. It's very much the same thing that's been played on top 40 radio for quite awhile now. And I'll stick with singers who don't get their melodies out of the same can as their beats ok thanks.

Not even worth it. I like the music videos better, actually..the music means nothing to me. Lady Gaga is just a visual artist, and should leave music alone. I do enjoy 'Born this Way' a bit more, but even there I find a lot of cliches from veteran artists. All these little monsters can argue with me, but I honestly don't care. The concept of what is called "stealing" in the music industry is no secret, but artists like David Bowie and Freddie Mercury coin this term loosely and have taken a very small facets of musical styles to create something unique. I don't see anything unique about Gaga--she's butchered the Metropolis themes from Queen's Radio Ga Ga video, acts as if David Bowie never existed (ie. see the Aladdin Sane lightning bolt on her face), and perpetrated crimes against Dale Bozzio (most notably the cover of Spring Session M--the Missing Persons album.) rIf she's gonna be paying tribute to these singers/bands of the past, why can't she just admit it, and stop passing herself off as THE first. I guess she just isn't my cup of tea. I would rather see her in a tribute band.

Lady Gaga bursts out onto the music scene with this very catchy and original collection of
songs. As an artist she works hard to set herself apart...almost too much at times.
Nonetheless the entire album is full of very fun songs to dance to with infectious beats and
clever wordplay.
Lady Gaga does well for herself by showcasing a brand of originality and unique style and
flair towards her music. Its easy to love or hate but impossibly to ignore. Love it or
leave it, lady gaga definitely knows what shes doing in the musical industry.

What can I say? I went into the record with the express intent of giving it a 1 to bring my objectivity score up, and I ended enjoying almost the entire album. Though I certainly could not listen to The Fame on a regular basis, it's refreshing to know that I am still human and can relate to something that so many both love and loathe with such odd fervor. Whatever one may think of her, the music stands out as a stark testament to the powerful minimalism of truly great pop music. The profundity here is in the profound lack thereof; as the lead singer instruscts, don't think, just fuckin' dance, bitch.

Unfortunately, like most major pop releases, Lady Gaga may be fantastic for those first few listens, but this CD is, in the end, utterly forgettable. The slightly higher than than average mark is more due to the above average success she had on music charts and sales, because she undeniably topped 2009 sales and even had my ear for a good month before I came to this sad realization.
