A solid album, some great tracks, some just good, some fillers. Overall, in my opinion, a decent album. 4 Bumps \| Bump

"The New Game" is an album that shouldn't exist. Gimmicky only begins to describe the concept of the album, while the tracks themselves have poorly written lyrics, and vocals that are laboriously emoted. The track "Dull Boy" is the only shining point on this one, and that track can be acquired on "By The People, For the People". Even worse, the deluxe edition comes with no extra content (no extra tracks OR DVD). Avoid this one.

This is absolutely horrible compared to LD50. The drumming requires nothing in this, there are no technical Danny Carey worthy moments on this, the slap bass is almost non-existent, or even when it is there it sucks an ass, and the guitar work has retreated to power chords, repeated structures and overzealous tremelo picking on the E string. How horrible this is. Bump

I really enjoyed Mudvayne, their first 3 releases kicked alot of ass. I dont understand what happened. They clearly just got lazy or maybe they no longer know what to do with the excellent Nu metal band that once was. First off, the inside booklet of the album is moronic. The so called suspects seems like a terrible way to try to make your band have a dark and messed up image. Poorly done. Especially all the blotted out eyes, and w.e else. It doesn't looks cool it looks dumb.
The music itself does not seem to be the same mudvayne, its like they tried to go even more radio friendly than Lost and Found and just made their music laughable. Despite Ryan's excellent bass work as always the other members seem to not be even trying anymore. Chad had 3 years, to relax between albums, and his vocals sound terrible. No longer does he have the same anger or rage in his voice it doesn't sound interesting to listen to. The lyrics seem to try to take a political tone (akin to the cover of the album) and to me, dont seem to come across well or make a good point at all.
All the negatives aside, the album is listenable some tracks are half decent. And thats a small amount

First, from an artistic standpoint, "The New Game" is Awful. It comes on the heels of a live album with cover artwork so offensive that music stores and chain stores were actually afraid to stock it, as it made a mockery of people in general.
To tone down this economically dour trend, Mudvayne came out with the current fare which sports a subtle albeit millitaristic cover. Okay.... Inside cover art breaks from this potentially interesting path, however, as we are treated to an assortment of "suspect" people that one can only characterize as doing quite poorly in life both financially and psychologically. This friends, is a cloaked jab by Mudvayne at the very people whom they call fans, much as was the cover art of "BTPFTP"- the live album.
The music itself has taken uncoventional timing and avenues to ridiculous extremes. Songs like tracks 1 and 6 start off well, but go on to be unlistenable, because they feel unfully developed unlike a song like say, "Death Blooms". As a total work, the best song on the record is the tenth track, which actually can be somewhat touching if you forget about its source and specious history. The entire songwriting is juvenile and horrible. A new album in 6 months?
