Absolute classic. Only minor complaints: too short! Would have liked a couple additional voices to complement Sandy's. Violin sounds a bit shrill, soundwise the album seems a little "cramped". Otherwise perfect.
Unresistible folk/rock album. I can't see any negative points in it. Denny's smooth voice just fades perfectly on slow tracks ('Farewell, Farewell') and on upbeats one ('The lack in the morning'). 'The Deserter' shows how much inspired every musician of the band is, and electric guitar solos are more than enjoyable. Furthermore some says it changed the face of Folk music, so be sure it is worth a listen.
The album that transformed folk music! The elements combined to produce an epic recording, with Sandy Denny's voice, Dave Swarbrick's fiddle, Richard Thompson on electric guitar, Simon Nicol on rhythm guitar, Dave Mattacks on percussion and of course Ashley Hutchings on bass, The Guvnor! I love Reynardine, I think Sandy produces her best vocal on this with a wonderful arrangement by the band.
