sludgy, dark but also aerial, trenches catches you till the end of the album. The drums are perfect for me,not too present or too fast, they let breathe the guitars and strengthens the vocals(eyes open). You'll always find something interesting in each song,it's just a shame that sometimes they have few monotonous parts(call it correct).
I really want to like this band. I would love to LOVE this band. Two problems: lazy-ass boring guitar work and drum work. Seriously dude, just because you can play in drop b doesn't mean you have any skill or that your shit is original in the least. Same goes for the drumming; just because the tempos are slower doesn't give you an artistic license to play the most elementary beats and fills. One good thing- Jimmy Ryan. First, let me just say that this album proves that on Jimmy's last album with Haste the Day ('When Everything Falls") he was either sick or recorded incompetently. Ryan is in full form on this album, providing the solidary highlight. Seriously dude, this is plain boring and unoriginal metal (or post-metal if your a douche); hate to say it, but its true. Ambient metal is a good idea, on paper... Jimmy Ryan, you are the man. Your band sucks. Bummer dude.
