Ben Folds tried. He really did. He masterminded the incredible 'Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner,' but it was met with universal disdain. He created the introspective 'Songs For Silverman,' but no one seemed to care. So really, what more can you expect from him? Of course, this is his best-selling album yet. Sigh.
Standout tracks: Kylie From Connecticut, Dr. Yang, Cologne

As a huge Ben Folds fan I was sad to find out "Way to Normal" is a sub-par outing, adding very little to Mr. Folds' repertoire. The songs range from uninteresting to dull, with very little material worth noting (Sadly, the poppy normalcy of 'You Don't Know Me' is the pinnacle of the album). With "Songs For Silverman", Folds grew up a bit and gave us some real winners; unfortunately this outing is more glitz than substance. Resorting to cheap tricks, "Way to Normal" does not live up to the promise of the packaging. If your not a Folds fan, leave this one be. If you are, I hope you agree with me.

This probably only deserves a 4 but I really like it. There is a section of the album that I almost want to say is experimental for Ben Folds. However a solid half of the album is classic Ben. Favorite songs are the single, The Frown Song, and Cologne.
