NASIR is a truly impressive exercise in utter banality and laziness from one of the greatest rhymers and storytellers in the genre's history. From his close-minded and straight up dumb anti-vax lines to completely out of left-field shit like the Reagan bar, to even cornier shit like "What you love can kill you/Like a heart physician who dies from a heart attack", Nas is generally cringeworthy to outright embarrassing on this album. The last two tracks make a concerted effort to actually introduce some thoughtful bars and above-average flow from Nas, but it just comes in way too late to make anything but a passable overall experience. It's clear from the clumsy political woke-speech that Nas wants you to think listening to this; the only thing I came out thinking was "what if Common had taken these beats instead?"

Comfortably the best record Nas has put out in a while and arguably the strongest of the five Summer 2018 Ye records (does anyone care about Teyana Taylor?)

Nas ain't the best element on his own album. Kanye's production is splendid and celebratory, the feats are nice, but Nas struggles to match his comrades, sounding mostly dull throughout the course of the record. That's a shame 'cause the album's lavish nature sure makes this album stand as one of the best-produced Nas record.

After Kids See Ghosts and Daytona, there's no way this couldn't have been great. But then it wasn't! Even the kind of good tracks like Cops Shot the Kid are painfully annoying. Not to mention, there's just nothing here that you couldn't find done better on TPAB or any other politically conscious hip hop record. Oh well

Classy, Nostalgic production from Kanye. NaS smooth and laid back delivery matches it perfectly, and I find the underlying themes of investing in the youth to be quite different from the modern conscious scene

67/100. Largely underwhelming, but a solid release no less. Kanye dials back the production on Nasir, allowing for Nas to step up and shine over simplistic beats. While this mostly works, I found a lot of the tracks here boring, as well as lacking in the energy that made the other GOOD Music releases this summer so great.

I always thought Nas with Kanye production would be a weird mix, but surprisingly it works very well. Up there with Nas's best work aside from a few bad lines here and there.
