The best U2 album. Whenever an annoying self-righteous douchebag knocks on U2 (since it's cool to hate them) being a stupid blustery monotonous stadium rock dinosaur I put this one on to silence all the undeserved hatred that comes from people that probably listen to bands that would never sound like they did if not for U2. Anyway, despite being 2 decades old, it simply does not feel as dated as it should. The tense dance rhythms, and twisting, fluid layers of guitarwork still sound remarkably fresh and Bono does a great job of providing the songs with some of his catchiest pop hooks and most cutting, consersational lyrics that he often semi-speaks in the verses. 'The Fly' may be the greatest thing they have ever done in my opinion, 'Mysterious Ways' and 'Even Better' are sexy as hell, 'One' is in it's most gorgeously understated form and the closer 'Love Is Blindness' is simply chilling.

I have all of U2's studio albums and this is by far and away the best. Not a bad track on
the album, and there is no other album in my collection I can say that about.

Despite its stellar reputation of arguably owning the 80s music industry, U2 boldly reinvents its image (largely abandoning its political themed lyrical content) and reconstructs its already popular sound (built around Edge) to launch Achtung Baby. This represents the band at its creative peak. And it has been an unfortunate decline ever since.

Blend the vibes of post-punk and themes of arena rock and push it back a decade past the prime of each and you get Achtung Baby. It has its moments—tracks 1-5 mostly, and the radio staple "Mysterious Ways"—which ring loud and proud, but the latter half of the album isn't half as powerful (though it pretends it is). It's a good album and one of U2's best, but I don't and can't feel strongly enough about it to echo others' praises.

I could easily count on two hands how many years I've savored this album, and as of today I still I am. The divine, meaningful ballads and sickly addictive guitar riffs made this album such a gem. Bono's voice on here is his best; his beautiful yodeling and perfect harmonizing both have such a breathtaking quality to it, and that can be identified for half the album. This album is gorgeous, emotional, yearning, sensual, majestic, and will leave you in a state of awe. Absolutely breathtaking album.

Though The Joshua Tree is more consistent I think this is a better album, it shows they can pull off several different styles. Plus 'One' and 'Whose Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses' are two of my favourite U2 songs.

A dividing factor in U2's discography. This is an album that many fans might say "U2 took a bit of a turn for the worse after this one"
I believe Achtung Baby is a work of art in all aspects. Brian Eno and Steve Lillywhite (on other albums) are near perfect at capturing U2 in their brightest or darkest moments.
The album sprawls out with lots of new sounds for The Edge to play with, the guitars on this album are off the wall. "Mysterious Ways" was and still is a pretty big hit, and his playing on that is a statement.
Larry Mullen Jr. Adam Clayton both do what they do best and there's no short of talent here. Larry is one of the most stable rock drumers still going.
Banging out hits such as "One", the aformentioned "Mysterious Ways", "The Fly" which has a killer Edge solo and more. This album graces us with one of U2's finest efforts in their entire career. Its a perfect start to the new millenium and its a perfect follow up to 'Joshua Tree'

I love it. One of my favorite albums of all time from one of my favorite bands of all time. U2 just feels completely timeless to me and each song is effortless excitement on Achtung Baby. The deep, ambiguous lyrics,electronic backgrounds, synth lines, and compelling guitar work from the Edge coupled with the timeless songs make this album a classic. Hands down.
