This album is not thrash at all. At least the black album has some thrash songs on it. They changed their style so they could try to sell like Metallica. Megadeth are just as much of sell outs as Metallica. At least the music on the black album was good. Countdown to extinction is mostly boring. Megadeth is over rated

Dave goes commercial and it pays off. Not as good as their earlier thrash albums but still a damn fine metal album. Best songs: 'Symphony of Destruction', 'Architecture of Aggression', 'Foreclosure of a Dream', 'Sweating Bullets', 'Countdown to Extinction' and 'Ashes In Your Mouth'

RIP being my favourite, this one comes in second. While usually regarded as the band's "sellout record", the truth is that it is chock full of epic songs. It's also great because it's the only Megadeth record where the band eases it's muscles and rocks out for the sake of it.

Dave Mustaine takes the straightforward road on Countdown to Extinction and the results, unsurprisingly, are mixed. While it's undoubtedly a good album overall, there just aren't enough truly strong moments present. And given the complex and prestigious quality of its predecessor, finding high points here becomes even tougher, regardless of the more commercial approach taken (for lack of a better term).

Megadeth's sellout CD wasn't as diverse sounding as Metallica sellout CD, hence Metallica selling more records. Megadeth still owns the distinction however of having the best thrash CD Rust In Peace.

A heavy metal masterpiece that is Megadeth's equivalent to Metallica's Black Album, and at times it shines through better than Metallica's eponymous record. Less filler and chuggin heavy tunes make this one of my favourite Deth albums.
