The second side of this is riddled with space rock themes that start off as though they could go somewhere, but all they do is fade away without variation and needless to say it's not such a great thing. Luckily though the last two tracks and an overwhelming majority of the first half is completely atmospheric and perfectly suits its purpose as a soundtrack. And "Stars" is fucking awesome.

Not my favourite of his forays into ambient music, and I cannot put my finger on why. Still too influential to ignore, and a worthy pioneer of the genre, just doesnt scrape the heights of something like Evening Star or Phaedra

Given that Eno himself said that ambient should be both ignorable and interesting, I think this errs too much on the side of interesting for ambient. Unfortunately, that makes me want to actually listen to it, not just let it play in the background, and then I remember that actually listening to ambient is pretty boring. I still enjoy this more than Airports.
