Ozzy is lucky to have had such a solid backing band, or he would have never pulled off his solo work, and especially his 'classic' debut Blizzard of Ozz. The Prince of Darkness' first album surely features some catchy tunes like I Don't Know, the ever-popular Crazy Train, Mr. Crowley and Steal Away the Night, but Osbourne lacks in his vocal prowess. Cuts like No Bone Movies only work because of the great instrumentation (especially the guitar, of course) that makes us partly forget the undeniably bland vocals. Next to that we get a purposeless and unsatisfying instrumental named Dee, which doesn't exactly showcase Roads' talent nearly as well as the other material does. The vocals are, in the end, more of an acquired taste, and the band balances them out for the best, resulting in nothing more than a very decent metal album.

What could have been a half-arsed attempt to recapture his former glory from his Black Sabbath days, Ozzy got himself an excellent backing band and began to put out records that surpassed those of Post- Dio Sabbath. His first one, and arguably his best, showcases the remarkable talents of the late great Randy Rhoads. The record is chock full of classic 80's Heavy Metal tunes, including 'I Don't Know', 'Crazy Train', 'Goodbye To Romance', 'Suicide Solution', 'Mr Crowley' and the truly amazing 'Revelation (Mother Earth'). Even the short instrumental 'Dee' is interesting in that it displays Randy's not so hard and heavy influences. Randy was a one-of-a-kind player and the world of metal is a lot worse off without him. Ozzy himself is not the greatest singer in the world but his vocals have a charisma all their own that blends perfectly with the great instrumentation. A true classic

The prince of darkness' finest hour. A step away from the dark, bluesy sounds of Black Sabbath and into a more rocking, headbanging type of music. Every song stands out on the album, especially Crazy Train, Mr. Crowley, and You Lookin At Me, Lookin At You (on the remastered version of the CD only). Ozzy does not have the greatest vocal range, but he knows how to make music sound great, and Randy Rhoads was a beast o guitar, at least better then Zakk Wylde can ever hope to be.

What could have been an awful attempt to imitate Sabbath turned into one of the best metal albums of all time. Ozzy's vocals have never sounded better, and the whole album is topped off by the genius of Randy Rhoads. A man taken before his time and one of the best guitarists of his generation.

In my opinion Ozzy's debut is one of the best records ever made. Almost all songs here are 5/5 like I Don't Know, Suicide Solution, Goodbye To Romance, No Bone Movies, Revelation (Mother Earth) and specially Crazy Train and Mr. Crowley. Randy Rhoads solo on Mr. Crowley is one of the best leads ever made. An absolute and timeless classic.

man how lucky can you get this guy can't sing but he always get superb instrumentation iommi in sabbath and rhoads for his solo work rhoads the only reason i listen to his solo work played the guitar like a god
