This is one of those albums that I find myself being inexplicably in love with. Yes, it's simple and the instrumentation isn't particularly innovative, but it's so earnest and confident with what it does. Fallon is a master of melody and romanticism and now that I associate it with a couple of painful and amazing memories it's become a very personal classic.

While Sleepwalkers is certainly a good record, once the excitement of a new Fallon release wore off, it began feeling rather lackluster. It has its shining moments (Prayers, Etta James, My Name is the Night, title track) and none of it is really bad, but a lot of it is disappointingly pedestrian (Proof of Life, Neptune, See You on the Other Side immediately come to mind). It's hard to fairly rate this considering the perhaps unrealistically high expectations I have of Brian's art, but I honestly don't think anything on here really comes close to matching the finest points of his catalog from the past ten years.
