Like xbris stated its still the same rehashed stuff from their last release but who cares. Its not the most original or breathtaking music ive heard, but it gets me moving and thats all that really matters. See them live and you will change your opinion.

I think that it's a little too generous to call this an album. It's really just another collection of breakdowns.
nothing original, nothing that excites me
if your a fan of brutality and nothing else then maybe you would like this, but i like things like dynamics, song structure, and variation so I think I'll pass...

This is exactly the point at which any potential Emmure had in the way of progression was
brought to a halt. While Goodbye to the Gallows had some redeemable qualities, The Respect
Issue saw the band descend to a new low.
Gone are the attempts at more melodic passages, replaced with endless chugs and breakdowns.
Each song is only vaguely distinctive from the last, as it seems each breakdown could easily
be cut and paste into a different song without losing whatever flow that is actually present.
Abrasive samples, such as the scratching in "I Only Mean Half of What I Don't Say," only
further serve agitate the listener, failing to achieve whatever effect they were intended to
have.
All else aside, what brings this release down the most is the terrible lyrical quality.
Vocalist Frankie Palmeri is clearly angry about many things, but his method of execution
takes the most base form possible. Though his screams may be competent, verses like "All I
wanted was a memory, so you can savor the moment; thank you, you fucking whore," come out as
childish and in poor taste.
At this point in time, nothing else is expected from Emmure - but when it was released, The
Respect Issue was a mild letdown. Oh, what could have been.

This is the only album I will agree with critics on. I still like it, but I would say 90% of it is just the same, long, extended breakdown. Still very catchy though, and not as bad as some people try to make you think Emmure is. Frankie is not exactly the greatest guy in the world, but he is the reason people hate the band so much. Anyways, if you want breakdowns - here you go. This album is certainly for you.

Well...there are some good moments here, actually some really fucking good moments, and the vocals continue to satisfy, but...well...they upped the breakdown count waaaaaay to much, its kinda rediculous now, in fact one song on here, sound wave superior, doesnt even seem to do anything other than chug the same chord the entire time. But it isnt complete shit, its just...not good

'The Respect Issue' is an angry album, just built on pure hatred. Yet, that's the only thing that's really good here. Standing out as my personal favorite Emmure record isn't really saying much here, but when you're in that fighting mood, this is the album for you.

A step down from the brutality and moderately unique songwriting. The 1-0-1 chord gets tiresome and is even more overused in this album than the previous. The songs are less memorable and the vocals are toned down and not nearly as powerful. It's good for deathcore, but not an album to sit down and listen to all the way through.

Little guilty pleasure of mine. They have a knack for keeping everything heavy yet extremely catchy. Strong vocalist too, one of the best at what he does. Although he and the rest of the band obviously love them some Zao. Nothing wrong with that though.
