Classic! Memorable! Jello Biafra is the best punk's frontman of history. The entire band is superb on your instruments, but only Jello really is an anarchist like punk rock must be! Never will exist lyrics like Dead Kennedys'.

"Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables" is one of the definitive classics in the history of Punk. This album popularized the band for great classics like "Holiday in Cambodia" and "California Uber Alles", songs that continue to sound with the same impact until today. Unlike bands like Sex Pistols, the reputation of the Dead Kennedys is not only by the media and image of their clothing, their music is also essential. Eternal and indispensable in the life of any individual who loves the genre.

I'll never forget hearing this on cassette tape in a walkman and thinking the batteries were dying because Jello Biafra sounds so warbled on this. This was back when punk was about intelligence and more than just angst. The less-than-subtle satire of "Kill the Poor," Let's Lynch the Landlord," and "Funland at the Beach," this sucker plays great from start to finish. East Bay Ray was so much more than a punk guitarist - he could play circles around most from this era. A great debut from a band that earned their legend status.

It took me awhile to get into the Dead Kennedys. Than "Kill the Poor" started getting stuck in my head. Besides earning me a few suspicious looks on the subway, that also drove me to buy "Fresh..." and I actually enjoyed the album a lot. While Jello's political rantings and ravings are still a tad annoying to me, you can't deny his manic energy, as well as the manic energy of this band! This is what rock n' roll should be! Short, punchy, fast, fun, and not too elaborate.

I'm not big on punk but this is an amazing album. I hate bands like Anti-Flag and mindless stuff like the Ramones, but this album is nothing like that. The lyrics are great, the guitar riffs are some of the catchiest you'll hear, and the bass player is the MVP of this record. It took me a while for this album to really hit me but now that it has it's incredible. Look out for the spacey interlude on When Ya Get Drafted!

Why this album is so acclaimed as to be one of the finest works of punk-rock in history I will never understand, but I can comprehend why everyone likes it. Its aggressive instrumentation and chant-like vocals probably create a hauntingly awesome atmosphere for fans of the band, and specifically this record. But I can't say that does it at all for me. I'd take Sex Pistols over this band, and thats really saying something when it comes to me. Jello Biafra I must say employs one of the worst vocal displays I've ever heard in my life, and the rest of the band does absolutely nothing to redeem him. They're attitude twoard the music greatly reminds me of Flipper. But of course there is light amongst the shadows, and songs like 'Kill The Poor' and 'Chemical Warfare' are most obviously good punk tracks. Holiday In Cambodia really slays me. What do you all see in that song?

aha, what can I say about this album. The punk album that basically got me into punk. Of course the highlight holiday in cambodia. But my absolute fav. was Stealing Peoples Mail. This album is fast and balls to the wall. I bought the special edition to this album, which comes with a bonus DVD and the DVD didnt even work. And before I could take it back I got pissed and snapped it. Oh well, this album is all I really wanted.
