I'm not one to tout "They were better before they got popular," but this stripped back, earnest, and enthusiastic live album of Jason Mraz shows off the potential he had before any of his radio hits had appeared.

Not that any of his radio hits have necessarily been bad (though I'm still sick to death of "I'm Yours"), but a live intimate setting allows his true charisma and vocal ability to shine through.

This is the one album that any Jason Mraz fan must have in their collection. If you have listened to his studio albums, Mr. A-Z and Waiting for my Rocket to Come, and you thought 'Well, that was interesting... not bad.' Well, this one would blow you away because this is Jason Mraz in his element. Live at Java Joe's actually does his music justice; it displays his vocal talent and, at the same time, manages to capture the energy that songs in his studio albums seem to lack. A really fun, catchy and addicting acoustic album that I would recommend anyone to download.
