Def. one of STP's poppier album. Which usually would turn me away from an album. But not this one. Excellent tracks like Big Bang Baby, Art School Girl, Lady Picture Show, and of course Pop's Love Suicide, makes this my all-time favorite Stone Temple Pilots album. The only thing that stinks are the mall/elevator music fillers in the beginning and the end of this album. But instead of that minor setback, this was well worth my money. I found it used for $4.00 and I feel like i stole it.

Their best album hands down. Recently got really into STP, and after never paying any mind to this album for years, I finally gave it a spin and it?s my favorite without question. This thing has been my go-to album for a solid month.

Stone Temple Pilots liberate themselves from the rather narrow and cynical scope of the grunge genre by embracing its art rock inner child with terrific success. Weiland is perhaps at his best with Bowie like glam appeal behind the microphone. Highlights include Pop's Love Suicide, Big Bang Baby and Art School Girlfriend.

Tiny Music... to me is when STP had fully developed their own sound. It's not that they didn't make good music before, but it was a style that wasn't there own. Tiny Music sounds more like 60's inspired psychedelia than imitation "grunge". The ballads are true ballads, and the more upbeat songs are fairly unique, in fact this sounds like a different band on every track, but it still maintains continuity. Tiny Music is the sound of a really talented band maturing musically, while still being able to cut loose and have fun in the process.

A brave and stunning direction change from STP. Most bands tend to repeat themselves on past successes, but not Stone Temple Pilots. With Tiny Music... Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop, they explore phsychadelica, pop music and layering to create an album full of rich textures and at times, intense rhythm. The album has a more rhythmic feel to it, with a lot of songs driven by Rob's bass and Eric's drums (Trippin' On A Hole In A Paper Heart, Big Bang Baby). The albums still retains Scott's cryptic lyrics and throaty vocals, and Dean really experiments more with different effects and textures in his guitar playing (Lady Picture Show, And So I Know). This is probably STP's most underrated album, which is a shame because it shows an experimental and mature nature, while retaining the same raw and confronting power of their previous 2 albums. Too bad that Stone Temple Pilots were passed off as a Grunge-style rip-off... Maybe more people should give this album a spin.
