| 3.5 great | Brien C. Stevenson | December 1st 08 | A pretty graceful EP from a band that never ceases to amaze me. The quality of the recordings/song structures here are excellent, and the folk feel is a nice change from the usual dark metal sound the band puts out (though this really isn't that far a cry for their sound). Overall, the White EP is both a great addition for fans, and a nice place for new ones to get started.

| 5.0 classic | Rob | September 29th 08 | The White EP transports you to another world. Agalloch really showcase their songwriting ability on this release. The songs are mainly mellow though they pick up a few times, and vocals only show up in the form of whispers, spoken word, a few vocal harmonies, and sound clips (from the classic original Wicker Man). As per their usual, acoustic guitars are the backbone of these songs giving everything a very earthy feel. It feels as if you are lost, walking through a great forest on a late summer afternoon as you travel through this EP. It's an incredible listen and I look forward to what direction Agalloch take their next full length.

| 4.0 excellent | LostViking | March 16th 08 | Let's be honest, the members of Agalloch are not phenominal musicians. There is no incredible guitar playing, drumming or keyboard work. And this applies also to their 3 full-lengths. The absolute strenght of Agalloch is their ability to compose. They are, imo, magnificent. (exp) Listen to the ending track "Summerisle-reprise" which mainly consists of a sparse piano line. That song conveys exactly what it is trying to do. It's an ending song, which can catapult you to a place in your mind. This entire EP conveys an earthy mood and feel. I can almost smell the dirt, trees and forest. This is why Agalloch are highly regarded, their ability to create musical art and completely capture the listener. It's been said, that on their previous full-lenghts, there songs are boring, long and drawn out.(I do not agree) however, this EP contains shorter songs-"Pantheist" being just over 7 minutes being the longest. This EP might be the way to go for those who can not attentively listen to music that's not "3-minute gratification." If your introspective, this 32.29 minute EP can give you the peace to be contemplative. If not, go listen to "Pig Destroyer"
