I've always known these guys were capable of writing an above average record, even though the recent year tend to point at the opposite.. This album is great. Probably my favorite of theirs.

"Shadows Inside" is a relief for the fans of the band, even though i don't find their previous works a total disaster as anyone else in here. It seems that Miss May I suffers a lot because of their fan base and the criticisms regarding their sound that is sometimes very produced and generic. I agree that the band has some identity issues, but i still hope for an above-average work that will hardly come in the future.

This band has gotten a lot of unnecessary hate from this site over their career the than for AAFTW which was an amazingly
heavy and polished debut metalcore album. I'd say they've finally found a cohesive balance after a few albums that showed
potential in certain areas but still lacked diversity and exploration. This album shows every facet and angle of the band in
shimmering triumphant manner. Vocals are at an all time great with precision across the board. I cannot even begin to
describe the progression in Ryan Neff's cleans. The guy has evolved into an amazing rock crooner full of passion and
emotion and is honestly the shining star on this i believe. Levi has also improved vastly since the ROTL days and is a top 3
metal vocalist around as far I'm concerned and tracks like "crawl" and "swallow your teeth show his range. Instrumentals
are fantastically melodic and guitars are tightly wound throughout with some amazing riffle and some absolutely brilliant
solos. The experimentation and precision in writing has them at their most mature, versatile, and complete and this album
will most definitely get them some due recognition as a top band in metal right now. They've worked hard for it and deserve
it. My only concern is the out of place "never let me stay" which i thought slowed the opening momentum up and should've
been later in the album at a more reflective time. Top Tracks: "under fire", "my destruction, "crAWL" and the epic closer;
"my sorrow" Overall an astounding and accessible metal album from MMI. 4.8/5
