Never have I been so unimpressed with an album upon first listen, I mean I heard this once, then just basically put it down for a solid month before even remotely flirting with the idea of giving it a second shot. I'm a fucking idiot. 'Demon Days' is fantastic, an eclectic mash of utter madness somehow organized into 15 tracks. Pretty much leaving behind whatever the Gorillaz were, Albarn and co. restructure this animated 'super group' into something truly quite unique. I mean the idea of mixing cool verses and hooks with some sick rhymes is hardly new, it's just few do it better than these guys here. Armed with Damon Albarn's own musical insanity and a slew of excellent guest stars, 'Demon Days' is a party album, introspective character piece and twisted/fun labor of love all at once. The album really doesn't falter from start to finish, every song seems in it's right place. It's successful as a whole, but at times can be a bit goofy, but 90% of the time, you can just roll with it and let 'Demon Days' have it's fun.

The realization that problems are but obstacles that will come and go wasn't apparent to me for a while. Whether or not the album meant to present this, after a few sporadic listens the closing track suddenly overwhelmed me with emotions. Since then Demon Days, as an album, has become something an anthem for me.

Awesome is the best word to describe this beautiful album. Atmospheric and powerful, I recommand it to anyone who want to enjoy a unique experience. Also, Feel Good Inc. is the best song period.

Many of the subjects covered within this album are quite horrifying, but they don't sound so bad when the album sounds this good. Demon Days has a good blend of hip-hop and rock, neither over-powering or outshining the other. The guests are a hell of lot subtler than later work, but still leave a strong mark on their respective songs.

A major disappointment, give me any songs off of their original over this drivel. It sounds like this is merely the songs that didn't make it onto their first LP. Gone is the bold eclecticism and creativity in song writing (I wish my brother George was here, alas no searing Del tha funkee homosapien part), replaced with generic pop. Little in the way of hip hop, punk and other genres that sounded so good from their first LP.

By far, a much more political, meaningful concept is found on Demon Days than the dreamy, fun elements found on their other album. Produced entirely by Danger Mouse, the production has a slightly more soulful, gentle feel to accompany their usual multi-genre beats. Check out "Feel Good Inc." and "Fire Coming Out of the Monkey's Head" if you wish to hear the top tracks. However, there are some unlikable tracks on here sure enough, and the best songs only have so much of an upside.
Meaningful and dreamy, Demon Days packs a pop-ish, politically potent punch. Definitely not the album you would want if you were a first time Gorillaz listener, as this is stylistically deviating from most of their works, but if you're looking for just a good album plain and simple, welcome.

Entirely different from what many have come to reconize the gorillaz as, this album was a drastic style change. In alot of ways its all over the place and its light tone as a concept album is highyl welcomed. DARE was the track that caught my attention, it was fun and catchy and unlike alot of the dance music most people are accustomed to. The album as a whole carries an overall melancholic and almost insipid feeling to it, however this perfectly suits the gorillaz and what this album represents. It takes some listening to get into thats for sure, when I first heard the rest of the album not many of the tracks immediately impressed me, some that did were; Feel Good inc. Dirty Harry, All Alone. However I was brought back to the album by its oddness and the album that was there began to grow on me. No not all of it is amazing and it doesnt all stand out. But it easily the gorillaz best effort to date and a very likeable able (even if not right away).

This was a good cd with great songs(feel good inc, kids with guns, the strange fire coming out of a monkeys head, last living souls, green world, every planet we reach is dead), but the rest of the songs sucked. I hare white light, its to dang boring, but there is still the creative spark that was in their last album. This one wasnt as good because it didnt have as many good songs, but it still had some really great songs. It would have got a 4 if the good songs were almosst always the song after the bad song, meaning that when one finished you had to listen to crap before the next good one oh well.
