| 3.5 great | Alabaster Jones | April 17th 17 | Sadistik is one of the few artists in hip-hop who do the whole stone-faced serious depression and self-deprecation thing well, due to his heart-on-sleeve honesty and his usually impeccable production choices. Flowers For My Father had an atmosphere that was like walking through an Ativan-induced haze of deep, dark melancholy and unabashed indifference, giving it a fleshed-out personality to bolster Sadistik's impressive lyrical abilities and soften the blow of the occasional cringy moment. Altars has a palatable atmosphere as well, and while it's not as strong as his full-lengths before, it helps back up what is possibly Sadistik's best effort on the microphone yet in terms of flow and charisma. Still, one half of the album is done in a more forceful, bass-heavy style, where the second goes back to the hazy atmospherics of albums past, hurting the cohesion of the record. Still, it's interesting to hear him going in a new direction, and hopefully this newer sound can become more refined in the future.

| 5.0 classic | MouthFullofGold | April 15th 17 | This album is absolutely incredible. I've been a Sadistik fan for a while, but this easily surpassed any expectations I had. This album is a treasure chest of clever wordplay and the production is unreal. On this album Sadistik delves into a deep existential crisis using religious imagery, insects, and powerful allusions that create a mood heavier than any of his earlier work. The way that he using juxtaposing moods of super dark songs like Roaches
Or Cotard's Syndrome with the soft, epic beauty of Kaleidoscope without losing any consistency is a real restatement to Sadistik's album writing skills. Altars is heavy, unadulterated and is easily one of the most powerful rap albums I've ever heard.
I have no doubt that this will be my AOTY for 2017 and will be I. Rotation for a long time to come. All hail!

| 3.5 great | Panzerchrist | April 14th 17 | Why would you drop your dream project on the same date as Kendrick's newest LP?
Regardless of any drop-date blunders, Sadistik is reliably solid, though he brings all his usual weaknesses into this new project too; some cringe-worthy vocal harmonies, some hokey instrumental choices as well as some other minor squabbles. This also has a little less variety than his usual foray, with it missing a massive climactic end-track like most of his projects do.
Still, Sadistik brings an unfiltered and unhinged persona here unlike any other in the rap scene, with dense word play, complex, spider-like flows and one of the most unorthodox approaches out there. None of that changes with Altars.

| 3.8 excellent | Trey STAFF | August 14th 17 | I think Sadistik is kind of losing his inspiration or something. Each release has been just a little less exciting and creative than the last. That's not to say this isn't really good, only that his brand of chill atmospheric hip-hop needs a new kick in the ass.

| 1.5 very poor | Der Geist, der stets verneint | May 8th 17 | Sadistik doesn't bend to the will of the mainstream or second guess what people want him to make. It's honest music straight from the heart.

| 5.0 classic | ZSquared | April 17th 17 | Shifting to a much darker take on his sound Sadistik crafts what may be his best album, but all of them are so great it's hard to tell. The production is ominous and booms with energy, and Sadisitk is in top form with lyrics and flow. He drips passion and charisma while delivering incredibly deep and thought provoking lyrics. I can easily see this as my favorite rap album of the year, if not my favorite album of the year.
