Painfully average album overall. The only three songs that stand out are "Tie My Rope", "Blooddrunk" and "Roadkill Morning". The rest just sound like b-sides to the band's previous two albums and don't seem original or inspired. I was disappointed by this.

Its the worst album they've released, but its not all that bad. Pretty repetitive. There are some standouts like the title track, One Day You Will Cry, Done With Everything Die For Nothing, and Banned From Heaven. The worst thing about this album is Alexi's vocals. They are completely shot. Thank god he's still decent on the guitar. For everyone who thinks that this is a Power Metal album or that COB is a Power Metal band, you are mistaken. This album is Melo-Death/Thrash Metal. If you're a die-hard COB fan you should get this, but if you're looking for something new to get into, start with Follow The Reaper or Are You Dead Yet?

This is such a disappointing album. I was expecting much more from CoB because I actually enjoyed AYDY?. Hellhounds On My Trail, Tie My Rope, Blooddrunk, and One Day You Will Cry are the only songs worth listening to on here. Everything else is basically rehashed from earlier albums and pretty much suck. Luckily, those 4 songs are good enough to make this a 2.5 instead of being lower.

Listening to this album is so painful that the only way I know how to ease the pain is to kill a kitten. From the generic songs (everything sounds the fucking same, and don't say "BUT THE SLOW SONG" kill yourself), the boring riffing and shredding (and don't say "BUT CLASSICAL SCALES" kill yourself), and Alexi's affront to vocalists everywhere (and don't say...ok well no one likes his vocals on this album KILL YOURSELF), there is nothing of note here for anything but CoB fans.

This is not a bad album but its nothing amazing either, seems that CoB have gone quite a lot down hill, after AYDY which was very good but repetitive they bring Blooddrunk, actually the title track is the best song on the album along with banned from heaven and they're both not brilliant. The first listen through is pretty good and you'll love the keyboards and solos, but after that it’s just so repetitive that you won’t want to listen again. 3/5

CoB have gone back to the keyboard driven harsh vocals found on Follow the Reaper, sadly it sounds too much like...well, everything they have done already. It is clear CoB are just plain out of fresh ideas.

A 3.5/5 is about the highest I can give them. Alexi doesn't have the same creativity in him anymore. Plus, his vocals are shot.
On the positive side, the keyboards are a lot better than they were on AYDY, especially on One Day You Will Cry.

Though not necessarily as much as At The Gates or In Flames or other bands that hold such legendary statuses, this band has done its part in contributing to both melodic death metal and power metal by both releasing amazing music and being somewhat of an influence to the newer bands.
HAS. Those days are pretty much over now. Children of Bodom quickly grows less and less powerful and interesting as their career progresses. Blooddrunk is yet another example of this. While this isn't the worst album in the genre, it certainly isn't the best, and it is fairly unlikely that the band will ever offer any solid and exciting material again.

At this point, Bodom's sound had become a gimmick. But then, hadn't they always been somewhat gimmicky? Sure the vocals are pretty lame, and the rhythm section is totally generic, but still, when Alexi hits on a killer hook it is what it always has been - magnificent. They're fewer and farther between, but the album is still an entertaining listen, especially when you want some hunky melodies.

This album lacks the "catchy-ness" the previous albums had..."Tie My Rope" is good and reminds me of some of their older stuff but if you are looking for COD's best work you will find it elsewhere.

Though lacking memorable tracks, Blooddrunk still manages to be an improvement over its predecessor and utilizes the better aspects of Hate Crew Deathroll to make for an enjoyable listen.

Children Of Bodom has started to go downhill after the release of their neck snapping success ''Are You Dead Yet?''. The band seems to abandon the neo-classical ingredients that made them famous. Blooddrunk just consists of heavy aggressive riffing, technical keyboards and recycled melodies. There is nothing in this album that sounds fresh or innovative. ''Banned From Heaven'' and ''Blooddrunk'' are the only tracks that stands out from this sub-par album. A completely uninteresting and uninspired album from a band that usually kicks ass.

This isn't the best album released by COB, I really didn't like it at all. The songs were just not great, if there was one song on that album I had the slightest interest in, it would be Hellbound on my Trail.

Extremely dissappointing album, because AYDY wasnt as bad as people were saying in my opinion i thought this album would still be a decent listen, i was wrong, this is boring, uninspired and downright terrible at times, theres a few moments from a couple of songs which have a glimpse of what bodom are about, tie my rope and banned from heaven are decent songs, but nowhere near the level of even AYDY. A very dissappointing album, its clear bodom are now far away from the glory days of hatebreeder and follow the reaper. At least for now.

a shitty power metal band at the end of their shitty rope. Not even the guitar playing can save this one from crap songwriting and crap introduction of Thrash influence. In fact, the only real thing that has changed is that this album has gone from 'Power Metal' level of repetition to 'Thrash Metal' repetition, which I can assure you is much much worse. Oh yeah, and Alexi is trying to sound even heavier: BAD NEWS KIDS.

I loved this Bodom album. I thought the riffs were incredible. Very technical but also stuff you can bang your head to. I didn't favour the tone much and some of the songwriting was a bit poor; but aside from that it is an amazing metal album.

Ugh...Children of Bodom...What happened? I mean, I was never a huge fan of their previous work, but this is terrible. They used to show promise and then Are You Dead Yet? came out with, SURPRISE!, mediocre reception. But I mean hey, as long as the Hot Topic kiddies are buying their stuff, why get rid of success? The spawn of their newfound popularity is a bad one indeed with excruciatingly painful repetition and progression that makes pretty much the entire album one monotonous chore to listen to. I know that there is no point in writing a bad review about these guys because they will and have already sold thousands of copies already, but I mean c'mon! This is an embarrassment to Power Metal and metal in general.

Unfortunately the release is repetitive, even more-so than Are You Dead Yet?, which actually have many good moments such as Living Dead Beat, Are You Dead Yet?, If You Want Peace... Prepare for War, In Your Face and finally Bastards of Bodom. This album hardly stands up to previous albums, and sadly shows that Bodom are becoming more redundant with each release.
The review mentions technicality, which I would totally disagree with due to the fact that most of the tracks are cyclic efforts, showcasing little more than everything else they have done, just with a lot less memorabilia to bring back home. Technicality goes way beyond just solos and riffage. And, while Alexis musical ability is good, his song writing isn't (at least on this release).
Good points would of course have to be the emergence of Warman's keyboards, however they are like the rest of the album cyclic and monotonous.
Perhaps the next release will prove more interesting, until then, this album is another release showing Bodoms demise into redundancy.

Alexi never had much creativity in him. Every 3 years he writes 9 songs which span less than 40 minutes! its just with this album, people finally notice it. i'm very sad about this release, i was lookin forward to it.
