By far touché amore's most beautiful album. Stage four paints a painful picture of human emotion that many albums have been sincerely lacking this year. By the time the albums conclusive epitaph in "Skyscraper" kicks in, everything comes full circle in booming colors.

An album driven by genuinely honest emotion from start to finish, the only thing holding this album back is that the experimentation with their sound on this LP it at times hit or miss (this album would honestly be better if Skyscraper wasn't on it).

pretty logical follow-up to is survived by in the sense that the soaring guitar melodies are
getting even more emphasized and they're clearly getting further away from the frenzy of their
early stuff and i have absolutely no problem with that because those melodies are fucking
beautiful man. what i'm not a fan of is bolm's clean voice but even that works well in the closer
sung as a duet with julien baker and he still mostly carries the songs really well with his
shouted voice and always so emotional and straightforward lyrics. basically all i wanna say in
this stupid long soundoff no one will read anyway is that if you like touch� in general you won't
be disappointed for this

I really hate that I miss harsher vox on this album. Stage Four is an undeniably moving experience - as it should be, given the fact that it's a dedication to lead singer Bolm's mother in the throes of cancer. Each song positively drips with emotion, and for the studious follower of my soundoffs one could gather that I tend to find emotion in my favorite musical pieces. I do feel, though, that Jeremy Bolm held back a little here, and that prevents me from ascribing legendary status to Stage Four. All in all, though, it's a fantastic listen and work of art.

I have to say I am somewhat biased because I have always slightly preferred TA's rawer, more hardcore side, but this is a more than solid album for a band that is yet to ever disappoint with the records they put out. This album brings the hardcore influences ever so slightly down, and brings in more pop punk, emo and post-rock more than ever before in a TA album. I still found it missing the catchy hooks and melodies that were plentiful in their previous records, perhaps due to the change of style but also to my listening conditions. The last track takes a very interesting musical direction, and it is almost a shame that the album ends right after that. Will have to re-listen to it for sure. 3.8

It may not be the most original thing musically but goddamn do those lyrics hit home. That alone raised this .5. The melodies here are quite easily the most beautiful melodies the band has written, surpassing even "Face Ghost" and "The Great Repetition". The unbridled energy that made their debut demo and full-length isn't present all that much here, but the embracing of melody and an emphasis on poetic lyricism has never been better. As such, the band have finally and fully made their transition, and it results it what just may be the band's best work. Perhaps this is best exemplified on closer "Skyscraper" in which Julien Baker makes a lovely appearance, when the songs explosive and memorable chorus acts as a culmination of everything the album is about both musically and lyrically. If you liked the direction Touche Amore has been going, or just want to hear some heartfelt and emotional post-hardcore, you can't go wrong with Stage Four.

This is amazing. I'm relatively new to the band, but this is definitely the best thing I've heard from them. So sad and so beautiful. Pitchfork describes this album as "hardcore's Carrie & Lowell" and honestly, I can't think of a better way to describe it.

Touche Amore's most melodic endeavor thus far but god damn it hits. This album will become a classic and quite possibly their opus. I actually liked the vocal variety on the album. Skyscraper is such an interesting song. I didn't like it at first but now I can't get it out of my head. Pummeling drums, melodic guitars, vocal variety, extremely honest and personal lyrics. Going to be a classic in a few years.

Charged with emotion. An incredibly moving ode to Jeremy's Mother. "New Halloween" is a personal
favourite after a few listens. Possibly due to the way the instrumentation moves in the song. I'm
no expert with this scene, but this may be an essential listen for years to come!
