Call it nostalgia, but Saosin's Along The Shadow is surprisingly engaging from start to end. Yes,
there is no reinventing the wheel here but between Burchell's technical and melodic lead playing,
Green's more scruffy's vocal urgency, and Rodriguez fast and somewhat unpredictable drum parts
make for a feel good fun Alt Rock/Post Hardcore adventure. This is not going to win over any
naysayers or haters. But if your a fan of Saosin's older work and have the itch for early to mid 2000s
popish post-hardcore, Along the Shadow will scratch your itch. I have to admit, I thought I was
going to hate this. So I feel a bit dumbfounded with how much I enjoy this.

Along the Shadow proves oddly compelling - it's a 13 year reunion of a sound that is so ... adolescent. It's consistent on all fronts yet cloyingly unmemorable. For such an abounding sound this sounds so... unfulfilling. Would recommend but only a few tracks at a time.

This is not as good as i hoped it to be. Tracks 4-7 are rather Circa Survive than Saosin tracks imo. If the guitar play doesn't reach the level of songs like "Illusion and Control" or "Drinking from the Fountain" there is only this awesome drummer left to save them. As much as i like Green, i fear his songwriting is getting worse, also looking at the latest Circa albums.

This is more a 2.5 but the current average is a fucking joke. rThis is more self titled than TtN, uninspired and flat. Green sounds good, a couple of instrumental passages are catchy but, no, this certainly doesn't hold a light to TtN which was a 4 at best.
