Underground Network is Anti-Flag's breakthrough, and best record, and The Clash inspired project one of the top protest albums ever. Protest rock had already started to loose it's steam by this time, and it seems to be design, as topical music has disappeared from the country's conscious during one of the most contentious periods of political upheaval this country has ever seen. While I won't use the space to discuss my beliefs, I agree with alot of what Anti-Flag has to say, and I love how they have done the research and educated themselves on these topics, especially with how young they sound. And they sound like they pull off the task of not taking themselves too seriously (see Spaz's House Destruction Party), with the ability to weave some catchy ass hooks and victorious leads into most of their songs. The rhythm section is phenomenal, and I love the low end throughout this album. The bass player really stands out, and there are some odd song structures that keep the album from sounding repetitive, which is a problem that has always sort of plagued the band. Overall, an exciting record, and by far Anti-Flag's best. I'd say it's really the only one you need to hear unless you are really into the message behind the lyrics.
