4.0 excellent | Comatorium. | September 20th 15 | Well... No one can accuse Parkway Drive of stagnation anymore, as IRE sees the band branching out in about every possible direction in the realm of rock and metal. The end result is scattershot and eclectic, and for every head scratcher moment (Writings on the Wall, Vice Grip) there comes a wholly unique and entertaining take on metalcore complete with a ripping guitar solo that sounds like it was written for a Boston song (Vicious.) IRE is certainly an entertaining listen to say the least, however it sometimes buckles under its own ambition with occasional ideas that flat out don't work. Don't let that deter you from listening to one of the more interesting releases from one of the biggest old school scene juggernauts still churning out new albums in 2015.

2.5 average | Jared Floryan | September 25th 15 | Australian metalcore unit Parkway Drive's fifth and latest addition to the band's catalog is adept at eliciting either a yawn, a groan, or a shrug; there are even certain moments on Ire that'll encourage listeners to perform all three reactions simultaneously ("Crushed" and "Writings on the Wall" will come to mind more often than not). I should be fortunate that this wasn't my first exposure to Parkway Drive, for that distinction goes to 2007's Horizons. Watching two old men dressed up as a Jawa and the Kool-Aid Man go about their daily business was energizing compared to what this record had to offer, if I'm being honest here. PD's newest full-length is not so much horrendous as it is the equivalent of a sleep-inducing basketball game. Angel recommends: "Vice Grip," "Fractures," "Bottom Feeder," "The Sound of Violence," and "A Deathless Song".

4.5 superb | AmbushReality | September 21st 15 | Parkway Drive shift gears on "Ire," opting for hook-filled anthems rather than the breakdowns and chugs of previous releases, and the result is absolutely massive. There is still the excellent guitar work, bone-chilling screams, and neck-snapping (see what I did there) breakdowns of old, but each song is complete with a new found catchiness tailor-made for arenas that will surely take Parkway Drive to new heights within modern rock and metal.

2.5 average | Risodo | May 5th 18 | "Ire" is one of the biggest disappointments i've had in my life as a guy who listens to music every day and has it as passion. I was not prepared for this record, even more so with the existence of the "Atlas", which in 2012 left me almost deaf of so spectacular that it was to listen to it at maximum volume. As it was something unusual, i even avoided for some months any song of the band, as a way of expressing my "mourning". Today i can even listen to some of the songs that are here, but listening to the whole album is still impossible, since the complete work is a piece of shit.

4.0 excellent | Tristan Matheny | March 29th 18 | IRE may be a step away from the scene that made Parkway a household name in the metalcore community, but this album is a fantastic blend of traditional heavy metal and their distinct sound. The vocals are fantastic, both the bass, and lead guitars flow effortlessly together, and the drums sound as good as ever, however what this album does with the instruments is falters in the lyrical content. Some songs like Vice Grip, and Vicious seem to be filler tracks in order to take up space. That being said, both aforementioned songs are still good, and I jam them myself. True highlights from this album include: Bottom Feeder, Crushed, Dying to Believe, Dedicated, and The Sound of Violence. Overall, while not their best work, this album is definitely a must own for any metal fan. Parkway continues to release quality, and I am optimistic for Reverence in May, 2018.

2.5 average | NewBallistics | March 1st 16 | I've heard worse from other bands who decide to change up their style in favor of melody, however, it's sad coming from one of the last bearable metalcore acts in the mainstream's public eye. This album will solely depend if you can accept that Parkway is getting older.

3.5 great | maninthebox | November 23rd 15 | While being a perfectly alright addition to one of the best discographies in the modern metalcore genre, some cracks and inconsistencies are starting to appear in Parkway Drives sound. What's surprising is that these inconsistencies don't arise from a rehashing of old ideas but instead the incorporation of uninteresting new ones. For instance, this more arena rock approach they're taking while exciting on the first listen just doesn't seem to deliver upon multiple returns. Also the dilution of their sound with slower and catchier tracks and melodies really stops there from being much of an oomph! factor which is what made previous Parkway albums so exciting. Still some tracks are noteworthy additions to their discography: Fractured, Crushed, Dying to Believe

2.5 average | JimIntegrity | September 21st 15 | I'm not going to bash about the fact they're not making stuff like they did for 'Killing for a
Smile' or 'Horizons' because the reasons this album doesn't work for me isn't that. Its because
this album finally makes me see what Parkway Drive really are and that's not particularly good.
Yeah Winston sounds great and these songs do attempt to try new things but they just sound so
boring. Every now and then they show glimpses of hope but thats about it. I think possibly I've
out grown Parkway Drive.
*edit: 'Writing on the Walls' is probably the worst song they've ever written

3.5 great | MegaJake1024 | September 15th 15 | Won't be less than a 3.5. Just listened to Fractures and Bottom Feeder. Fractures is a great track and Bottom Feeder is hilariously sophmoric but also pretty tight and will definitely play before wrestling matches.rYeah, definitely a solid 3.5. Dedicated crushes. Love Writing on the Walls as the pop song for kids that it is. Vicious and A Deathless Song are great as well.
Bump |
0.0 | InFiction | September 2nd 15 | 'Vice Grip' is definitely the softest song on the album, but this is still pretty standard Parkway no matter how you cut it, albeit probably their most aggressive release. This is definitely more geared towards live performances.
