Young Thug is the greatest musician alive. You could even say he's the Frank Zappa of our generation. He is not just another manufactured rap star, he is a complete artist. He is not someone that is being controlled by a record label. Thugger is singlehandedly one of the most innovative and unique rap artists of this decade. He is a melodic genius, his beats are experimental, innovative, unique, he isn't afraid to experiment, he is constantly evolving and changing his style. Young Thug, from the beginning, has always pushed boundaries and has continued to make progressive music that others could only hope to imitate. His voice is an instrument. He wants you to look beyond just the lyrics. They are there just to complement the music, they are an application of the voice as an instrument rather than a medium for verbal communication and storytelling. His voice and his sounds are something that no one else is doing. Young Thug obviously isn't a Kendrick/Drake type of rapper with outstanding rapping ability but he still manages to make better music than them. His mixtape, Barter 6, is an extremely introspective and personal record. It allows you to better understand the perspective and emotions of Jeffrey Lamar Williams. The mixtape has become a bridge for white youth to enjoy the art of the black inner city and empathize with the likes of Thugger and that is what is so wonderful about art.

No words to describe this awful album, this is so bad it exceeds Nas' Nastradamus as my least favorite rap album - and I never thought that'd happen period.

Barter 6 has some great production. With energetic trap beats and swirling synths floating around its runtime. There's a number of low-key bangers that will circulate in every fan's playlist for awhile. The grating issue with this album is that while Thug is very catchy, it can get extremely grating to listen to his crooning and strings of ad-libs for multiple songs in succession. This is a catchy party rap album, nothing more, nothing less. 3.2/5

I get this one's influence - Thugger's elastic use of his voice is properly groundbreaking - but it suffers from several problems. First of all, the features bring absolutely nothing to the table, to the point of being the worst tracks here. Secondly, once you've listened to some tracks off this, you basically know how the other ones will sound like. Nevertheless, the way he sounds both boastful and depressed brings a welcome duality to the record, which reflects in the beats' ethereal nature. This might be the one that started it all for him, but it's not his best one

Barter 6 is Young Thug's worst project and one of the worst albums of 2015. I just wanna say this before I start saying anymore bad things about this album, I actually enjoy some of a Young Thug's music and I think he's the best turn up rapper out there. But, this album was beyond repetitive and it got annoying after a while. I know that this isn't the point of his music but the lyrics were laughably terrible. His delivery and subject matter were pretty bad too. Also most of the song were insanely average to terrible. There were some good bangers on here though like the 5 songs I mentioned. However, Thugga's flow was amazing and versatile. Young Thug has a flow for every hair on your head. His production was great also. I also love how weird he is on this album and how experimentive he is. He's really creative here. Barter 6 is a bad album, Young Thug's worst, but it has some good songs, amazing flows, nice features, and great production.
