4.5 superb | PuffertsDoxology | June 22nd 15 | This is ABR's most ambitious album to date: the songs are long and intricate, the sound is massive, and man is JB excited about solos! The production on this album is outstanding. The band has never sounded this deep and layered. Like many others, I was worried sick that Far Away Places would be an R&R2.0. Rest assured--ABR is not on cruise control.

0.0 | tresm87 | June 20th 15 | They have somehow outdone themselves again. This is a masterpiece of an album. A beautifully
abstract and passionate album once again from one of the most consistent bands around. They are on a different
level completely.

0.0 | user static | June 23rd 15 | Is this even music? Surely it can't be. The obnoxious repetition, the horrid, nails-on-chalkboard, not artful vocals, the repetitive and obnoxious guitar riffs, the 20+ minute-long songs full of these characteristics make up a 2+ hour-long cd that isn't fit rfor human consumption. This is awful. If this weren't the Swans, no one wouldve even given it a second thought. I can't see how anyone possibly could enjoy hearing this. Most overrated album of 2014. By far.

4.5 superb | MegaJake1024 | June 21st 15 | The lyrics on this and all of ABR's discography paint a pretty awesomely enlightened perspective of Christianity. Philosophically very sweet. Musically, even better. Martyrs brings the fire, and countless others kick ass as well. The interludes are also sensational, but honestly I would've preferred slightly shorter ones, especially on the later tracks. Broken Promises and Vanguard are two awesome tracks that would've been even sicker with a bit less instrumental, and a bit more vocals. But that's my opinion. Overall, outstanding effort from one of the best bands in the game.

4.0 excellent | InFiction | June 22nd 15 | Anybody who has even the slightest concern for the future of August Burns Red's career need to go listen to 'Martyr' right now. One of the most impressive metalcore records I've heard in ages.

0.0 | Observer EMERITUS | June 21st 15 | I'm the harbinger, not the author of these timeless words. Led by the
Comforter I sing to you. And if my throat were to be cut from ear to
ear, I hope that these words would carry on in these songs that I pray
you sing one day. We sing for you. We sing for you. We sing for you.
We sing for you. We sing for you. We sing for you. We sing for you. We

4.5 superb | MalConstant | June 21st 15 | Metalcore is a pretty stagnant genre, but ABR is constantly pushing the boundaries with creative songwriting and their trademark sound. This album is really outstanding.

4.0 excellent | d00derz | May 11th 15 | This album is absolutely amazing. Consistent as always, August Burn Red fans need not worry about their signing with Fearless. The riffs and vocals are spot on as always, the use of the clean vocals on Ghosts was chill inducing. Hell, even Majoring in the Minors (Reprise) has a country/twangy feel to it. Overall, one of ABR's best releases to date.

3.5 great | Benjamin Kuettel EMERITUS | June 20th 15 | The melodic sections are a welcome break from August Burns Red's trademark sound. Overall, this is just as good as R&R, with some longer tracks and a welcome guest appearance from A Day To Remember vocalist Jeremy McKinnon.

4.5 superb | Kars Landman | June 20th 15 | The album is amazing, it's a bit darker than R&R, and has longer and more epic tracks. The interludes are well placed and there even is some sort of harsh/clean singing!

0.0 | Nimb49 | August 10th 15 | This is getting good ratings. Why is this getting good ratings? It's a steaming pile of shit that doesn't deserve the
ratings it's getting. What in the world is it that is making this album good? This whole record is practically diet
Periphery. The production, the vocals, the guitar work, pretty much everything. This is just absolutely horrendous.

4.5 superb | LowFatYogurt | June 25th 15 | Loved this album, enjoyed r&r more though. The
chanting/harsh singing, which I'm assuming
has to be a certain way because of rise
records, really annoyed me the first few
listens. I would much rather they just layer
jakes vocals or throw in some gang vocals like
in composure. I know it's a pretty small
point, but I havent seen anyone else bring it
up.....btw I can't wait to dance to that
badass polka breakdown in separating the seas,
next time I see them live.

2.0 poor | Comatorium. | June 20th 15 | Whoever told ABR that stupid and random genre hopping interludes and bridges were a good way to be progressive needs to be shot, because these far too numerous moments of idiocy drag down an album that already has no unique flavor to it. What a let down, apparently they?ll never top Constellations.

4.5 superb | Have you tried jamming Helcaraxe? CONTRIBUTOR | January 12th 18 | This is probably the most experimental release ABR has put forth. It plays with different instrumentation (including a violin) as well as different sounds thematically , including some rather western acoustic. It also has one of the most killer build- ups with those nasty shreds in "the Wake" so there's that.

4.0 excellent | BtwntheAKIRAndMe | September 26th 15 | Mid 8 out of 10: Holy shit, I can't believe ABR released an LP that was this heavy, but they really needed it. I can only imagine where they will go from here, but it can surely be some of their best material, as this is probably my second favorite LP of theirs.

3.6 great | Trey STAFF | September 11th 15 | I'm not overly familiar with these guys (although I have heard them before). I like their brand of aggressive, progressive metalcore. Good stuff.

3.0 good | Alabaster Jones | August 19th 15 | When it comes to modern mainstream metalcore, there isn't a band that does it better than August Burns Red. Their last LP, Rescue & Restore, was a great progressive metalcore album that used its experimentation tastefully and tactfully. Does this new record follow suit? Sort of, but not really. Much of the experimentation here seems as if it was haphazardly slapped into the middle of the songs, causing the interludes to feel as if they're interrupting the rest of the song rather than being a logical part of it. That being said, on songs like "Identity", "Everlasting Ending", and "Vanguard", the experimentation is very clearly mapped out and incorporated nicely. Elsewhere, it's standard ABR, with technical riffs, an extremely tight rhythm section, and growling vocals. There isn't necessarily a bad song on this record, but aside from the three mentioned above and "Ghosts", there aren't really any great ones either. Still, it's decent enough, even though I'm sure they can do better in the future.

Bump |
2.5 average | Alex C. | July 5th 15 | The poorest ABR release ever, there's not one song I'd say it's strongest than the other or that I'd look forward to hear it live.
Bump |
4.0 excellent | Jared Floryan | July 3rd 15 | While not one of the greatest metal releases to have been released this year as of this moment, Found in Far Away Places is certainly a powerhouse record crafted by arguably one of the highly respected modern metalcore acts known to many a preacher and lamb as August Burns Red. Stylistically, it's ferocious as balls, but also benefits from experimentalism here and there; the manner in which violins and subdued sections are incorporated are further proof that ABR are more skillful at coming up with beauteous compositions than one might assume. Jeremy McKinnon's clean vocals on the song "Ghost" astonishingly work wonders for the most part. There's clearly fun to be had with August Burns Red's sixth studio album and a couple curveballs do help in regards of maintaining that enjoyment factor.
