3.0 good | Gene Gol-Jonsson CONTRIBUTOR | March 22nd 24 | Jlin's first is a rough one for sure, as this is still before their knack at varying and experimenting with the formula of footwork kicked in fully. So what ends up happening is that the album just kind of flows on with barebones footwork that does not yet have its own explicit personality or (pardon the pun) feet.

2.5 average | Erwann S. STAFF | November 23rd 21 | Footwork pinned down to a formula? Jlin had apparently found one way to do footwork - snares and hi-hats fighting over stammering synths and vocal samples. Repetition slowly transforms into obnoxiousnesss.

4.0 excellent | TheManMachine | May 20th 15 | Its harrowing and serrated nature may leave the common foot-worker apprehensive and rooted - but from the reptilian rattles and gear grindings, to the chopped operatics and stuttering bobble-heads, to the irresistible finger-snap+air-gust-accented African-military-stomp section, this busy electronic horror-twitch percussion-fest distinguishes itself while still demanding movement and attention. The dialogue-samplings from The Ring/Mortal Kombat/Mommie Dearest seem a bit conspicuous in their familiarity, but thematically feel right at home.
