The last superb record to come out of Sabbath's classic era, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath revitalized a sense of creativity in Iommi's writing, which had been showing some signs of detoriation with the nevertheless great Volume 4. Conjuring up the title track in a creepy dungeon, the rest of the group's fifth album swiftly followed. It also marked a more experimental direction for the band, working with synthesizers and such. While this direction would eventually distance them from their work and lead to their downfall at the end of the 70's, it worked miracles here. With prime cuts such as Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Spiral Architect, Killing Yourself to Live and of course Sabbra Cadabra, this record is an overlooked classic next to Sabbath's famed first three.

This is one of my personal favorites by Black Sabbath. It improves the styles that were almost lost from Volume 4 and brings a more mature metal sound to the group. I may only be concerned about Who Are You?, but it's just a minor concern. The second to last brilliant album from the Magnificant Six.

I think I'm starting to prefer this over 'Paranoid' in my opinion this sounds more inventive and okay, 'Paranoid' is one of the best metal albums of all time but I prefer the almost progressive aspects of this album. Whichever is best they're both still classics in Sabbath's career and in metal. My favourite songs here have to be the heavy as hell title track, 'A National Acrobat' which has some amazing lyrics and 'Spiral Architect' an almost eerie closer to the album. A classic

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is probably their most experimental and progressive record and also my favourite. Songs like the title track, A National Acrobat, Sabbra Cadabra, Killing Yourself to Live (this song could be on Nirvana's Nevermind), Looking for Today or Spiral Architect are Heavy Metal anthems. An absolute classic.

Hard not to be redundant covering this album by this point, but Sabbath Bloody Sabbath definitely holds up as one of the band's finest Ozzy-era offerings. With a load of fan favourites (Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Spiral Architect, A National Acrobat, Sabbra Caddabra) and tracks like Looking for Today, Killing Yourself to Live, and Who Are You? marking some nice stylistic changes in the band's music. (not that they weren't already flirting with these changes on previous albums) The gorgeous instrumental Fluff is also an album stand-out, as no other Sabbath instrumental seems to possess the same quality to detail and layers as it. Overall, this one warrants multiple plays and has been able to stand up still as a great listen over 35 years after its recording.
