3.0 good | Watchman97 | April 14th 15 | Had high hopes but on first listen i barely made it through the whole album. Instead of the intense, emotional, genre pushing music of Thrice or the folky acoustic music of his earlier solo album, we get a generic, boring, predictable, Switchfoot-like project. Feels like there was no effort in this.

4.5 superb | stingraybassman | September 1st 17 | Seems to get better with every listen, real hidden gem of an album.

2.5 average | TheSupernatural | April 29th 15 | Maybe I'm just stuck in the past because this doesn't even compare to anything Thrice has done. Boring production, boring songwriting. It sounds like Switchfoot, Matchbox Twenty, Three Doors Down, or any of those other bands that continue to put out absurdly generic music

4.0 excellent | AlexTM510 | April 15th 15 | Dustin Kensrue approaches Carry The Fire with solid workmanship. Kensrue continues to be a solid lyricist, with much of this album weight in religion, philosophy, and love, all sounding resolute. This is a carefully crafted folk rock album that dabbles with enough musical variation and synth-y flourishes that should be interesting to not only fans Kensrue's previous work, but even fans of Thrice's work post-Beggars/TAI Earth EP. Dustin sounds beautifully aged here, with a confident bluesy rasp that supports what is his most mature outing to date.

4.5 superb | jmh886 | April 15th 15 | Someone made a switchfoot reference, which is absurd. This is good. Closer to his water and the blood project than his older solo stuff. I am sure it will grow on me as he always does.

0.0 | brandaao | April 15th 15 | Right now this is great. I'm pretty sure it may become a 4 in the near future.r"Gallows" is really good.rI was surprised this wasn't in that folkish vein like "Please Come Home", but when you think about it, I'm glad it isn't. There's already too much of that bullshit with those Mumford & Sons, Lumineers guys.
