In all honesty I am a Music lover 1st and a Circa Survive fan 2nd! but overall this album is a progression from Juturna while it still retain alot of aspects that made Juturna great it's sort of like the second chapter to a story that has just found its beginning!
Overall this album is not for music listener its more so for music lovers the people that can tell you every detail In regards to all things there favorite bands! the people that will go out and by this album even if they dont like it because they support a good band with good intent!
But i digress into chittar chatter that has little to do with what point i am trying to make! I like this album because its different from alot of things going on in music right now! it may not be different from Circa's 1st album but its different enough for me to enjoy!

Noticeably somewhat less accessible then their most recent "Blue Sky Noise" But not bad. Great, catchy nu-prog that is continually improving on itself while still keeping a unique sound that sets it apart from the rest of the sheep. 4.1/5

One of my favorite albums. Anthony Green's vocals aren't way to loud as compared to Blue Sky Noise and the music is sooooooo chill and badass!

A lot of people like "Juturna" more, but this is Anthony Green's finest work IMO. This album shows what happens when Circa fires on all cylinders. I don't think they will ever top this one, but that is quite alright. ("Living Together" contains the greatest intro to a song ever...ever)

Circa's drummer is awesome, particularly on this album. He's no "weak link". Anyway, album's great.

Anthony Green and gang have definitely sharpened their skills and pulled all of their tricks out of the bag for this record. Colin Frangicetto is still making passionate love with his various delays and weaving more complex riffs into the music. Adding more layers to the music, Green's vocal harmonies and lyrics are as moody as ever on this endeavor with religion as his object of interest. What I'm most pleased with is the growth of their sound. most bands go on to create a album after the initial that which plagues a formula already golden. Not Circa though, they found a perfect mix of experimenting while keeping the essential core sound which made them stand out from a sea of carbon copy alternative bands. As good as On Letting Go is however, their sophomore album falls slightly behind their debut release for me. I think the production, while beautifully done, makes the album lose some of the raw emotion presented on Juturna which I find makes or breaks an album. One thing is for certain however, every one of Circa Survive's is patiently waiting to see what they bring to the table on their next release.

i don't get what the big deal is with this band. musically they aren't that great and anthony green's voice is wayyyyyy overrated. deal with it.

In my opinion this is an incredible album...much better than their debut.
The lyrics are excellent and thought-provoking (as always), Anthony Green's singing is far more impressive and ranged than the last album and anything hes done in Saosin/Sounds of Animals Fighting.
As far as song structure goes...the songs vary largely from each other...upon first listening things do sound a bit 'sameish'...the guitarwork still is largely very distorted (as they intended)...but theirs still a lot of good noodling (In The Morning/Amazing, The Greatest Lie, Kicking Your Crosses Down, and On Letting Go are very interesting) and melody is much more present than the last album.
Drumming is far better than Juturna and is quite good throughout...check out The Difference Between Medicine and Poison Is In The Dose.
Overall, this is an incredible album which I can recommend highly if your looking for something different too listen too or if you dig anything from Radiohead to The Mars Volta to The Shins.
+'s - Lyrics, Anthony Green's singing, far more varied and more melodious song structures than Juturna, Drumming, some excellent guitarwork.
-'s - Can seem 'sameish' on first listening, Guitarwork is often distorted/muddy,
