Although I haven't started listening to this Irish blues guitar hero, songwriter, and singer's music from his eponymous album, I know it well and so consider it to be one of my favorite Rory's albums, hands down. That album is for me a classic one not only for it is so full of superb tunes, but because it's a statement of Rory's relevance as one of the greatest musicians of his time and forever. At the time of his first solo album, Rory was ahead of his time indeed. Sometimes this album sounds so candid and innocent (listen to I'm Not Surprised and Can't Believe It's True, It's You), sometimes riotous and raging. In short, in my opinion, it's a synthesis of Rory's Blues-based Rock'n'Roll regarding his prolific yet short career and how creative he could be, although one may hear jazz influences from his previous band, Taste. For me, it gathers all elements which constitute a true classic rock'n'roll album.
